Totally love that Bergmann Off-Road truck! Would be a plus in your fleet for those times that you need to build the back slope for your pond damns. The bed is a bit short, although may be a plus in moving dirt to the site that you need it, since it pivots to the left or right. Thoroughly enjoyed the video, Chris!

After watching Chris the past 4-5 years with the amount of maintenance he does on his equipment, I have come to take for granted thinking that's what most people do with their equipment. But after seeing the stuff in that auction, holy shit! Most of it should be scrapped. I do understand that that equipment did not have just one person running it for it's entire life which makes a huge difference. But even still, how bout a little maintenance and common sense.
@macallistersanders20207 ай бұрын
He said in one video he spent 80k on maintenance
@CraigGrant-sh3in7 ай бұрын
Some companies have full time mechanics. Many other don't . Many don't want to spend the money regular maintenance cost nor do they want to "waste " the operators time checking it daily or fixing things before a drip becomes Niagra Falls . Then when the machine is down for days or more they lose their minds. I worked for a building contractor that had equipment . They didn't want to pay for maintenance and really didn't want to pay for lost time and repairs . We had company pickups that everyone drove that had 20,000 on an oil change . At the time an oil change cost $20 . Spark plugs would be so bad the trucks would hardly run.

If you don't actually have any investment into it, boss wants production, people don't actually care how they treat stuff that doesn't belong to them...
@richardnott95877 ай бұрын
There are a bunch of maintenance people who. Just don't care also. Some can do a whole preventative maintenance process faster than they can sign the complete part on it. They sign it and walk away and say they did it. I see it all the time even today I had an oiler say he had been heading a machine and I told him to make me happy and grease it right in front of me and tell me how long it will take to fill up. 30gallons later he said it leaks allot and I informed him the green grease that was laying around the machine under all the dirt we have not used that color in 5 years and he probably shouldn't come to work tomorrow. I see myself doing a bunch of work for then next few weeks.
@ryanb4587 ай бұрын
@@richbutinski1367 this is exactly it. Most likely these low hour machines were purchased by big corporations that hire people to run equipment/ load out as many tons as possible and not waste time greasing. If the company always dumps equipment after a couple thousands hours at auction, who cares!

A couple of those excavators, aka farm machines, remind me of one I pass by a couple times a week. Drott, the farmer bought it to dig the basement of their new house, 4 years ago, and now she just sits by the road. Has an interesting tilt to one side, maybe 10 degrees, must have been fun digging that basement.
@joshuaplacka84807 ай бұрын
Some drott machines actually had a leveling undercarriage. I've only seen one in person. If it sets long enough it will lean over to one side.
@martineastburn36797 ай бұрын
271 must have been a salt machine and found a sink hole. The half dump really looks neat for pond building. As the dam is thin and not turnaround. The 3000-hour machine can be fixed with a bushing. Odd that it is so bad. Bushing like a Pipe. outside to match the stick and inside the pin. Easy to make in a shop. Long stick might be nice at the end of the show. What a show.

Providing it hasnt eaten beyond the bushing , yes . If it has , bow it's a line bore and weld job , and that's a few more Ben's and down time to get back to new and tight . Most everything is fixable , but , you gotta pick your battles , especially with used equipment .
