major props to the teachers at this school!! first of all, lunch club is a fantastic idea. children who don't have friends, or for whatever reason don't feel comfortable in large crowds like dining halls, often hide away on their own at lunchtime, totally isolated and feeling anxious and lonely. so lunch club is a great way for those kids to relax and have people to socialise with during breaks. not only that, but they are then pushed out of their comfort zone and encouraged to try new experiences, in the hopes that they will eventually become comfortable enough to join in with their peers and not have to rely on lunch club.

My school had a lunch club for kids with educational needs who struggled to fit in with the others. I only got in because my best friend at school had autism and he was the only person I really hung out with (although later I was diagnosed with autism so could attend in my own right). I can remember spending countless lunch times playing Uno, doodling and messing around on the computers with the other peple there. Those were really good times and I feel like it really helped me and loads of other kids become more confident and less isolated

This is what the theater arts does for students with learning differences. I went to Landmark College as a college student and between semesters during the summer I worked there high school summer program for the theater department doing sound and lighting. Let me tell you I saw some students with disabilities that would be sitting across the room on there own Be hanging out with the cast and have a bunch of new friends by the time the show ended. Musical theater is something that is great and we all need to help to support musical theater in all our elementy, high schools and colleges and communities.

I absolutely love this one of my close friends has Cerebral Palsy it’s a lot further developed than his and she uses an electric wheelchair but she loves to be in school plays and stuff last year she was a main speaking role in Aladdin! And this year she’s auditioned for a main part in the play too I’m so glad that these teachers are pushing him to get out of his comfort zone too :))
