Teenager Shaun Malone is rushed into intensive care after a bout of sinusitis leaves him battling for life, and four-year-old Saffron has surgery to release her restricted tongue.

Just goes to show that even something as simple as a sinus infection can turn deadly if you let it get too bad.

The little girls mom crying because her daughter was put to sleep for surgery reminded me of my little sister when she had to get an MRI and they had to put her to sleep. I knew she was gonna be okay but seeing her like made me want to cry and since she has autism and is more calm with me I had to carry her while she fell asleep and I had to place her on the hospital bed and for some reason that made me very emotional.

I did go to the doctor about the surgery when I was about 8 (I was quite self conscious about it) but I'm proud now that I didn't have it because the doctor said it was too risky and I could have an infection from it 😫😢❤❤❤

nobody: me: watches all the children's hospital episodes on youtube bc i wanna go into medicine and surgery and the best way i can get used to "gross"/uncomfortable to see things for me is to see them often and you know it cant be THAT bad on children lol...starting out small here. (i'm currently a junior in high school)

The best way is to volunteer as a CNA get trained to volunteer at a nursing home 😊 you will see, and smell, and feel, everything you need to. And, give yourself at least 6-8 months to get used to seeing past the medical/illness/loss and sadness to the full beauty of humanity. (Retired nurse here) ❤ watching videos is vastly different than the touch of a human hand. Working with human beings who are in distress and ill can be overwhelming and the most rewarding thing in life.
