That disassembly video will be a real help when you have to put it all back together. What a monster, good luck! So nice to see your son’s graduation and your obvious pride in him. Congratulations.

thanks so much phillip... yes the main result of the methodical removal is that I was able to document a detailed installation guide that I have now done and is saved in PDF format for anyone to use.

Fantastic work, thats one hell of a beautiful car. Well done to the young bloke to. Little pup is nice , mum had 3 of them. They were terrors when they were young. Ate dads car interior , wrecked the gardens and house ha,ha, Rottweiler is always with me when I work on cars . He wants to know everything, gets underneath and hes in the way with his son the jack Russell. Have to kick him out when im grinding or welding. Tries to bite the sparks and wont wear goggles. They really built nice cars back then. Cant believe the junk people drive now. That ZF is stunning, really nice. Cant wait to hear the 351 , great old motor.

Congratulations on Ethan graduating, Great video, It's always interesting seeing how these things go together or come apart. I'm looking forward to seeing more of Dawson, he looks like a stunning pup.

hey mate, yes Dawson is a great little pup, very casual and gentle. not very obedient or focused just yet but he will get there. Im now ready to finish the dash installation and finish the polishing of the paintwork while the car is in the rotisserie. and once all of that is completed Ill be able to start putting the heavy suspension parts in and drop it out of the rotisserie and onto its own feet. Pete is poised to start assembling the motor. we had to drop the heads down to the engine machinist who wants to assess them to assist him in selecting the best Cam. Ive gone with a brand new set of Edelbrock Alloy heads. The engine machinist I am using build's drag car engines and his company is called speed works. He always strives for max HP. and recons I'll need to run a 2800 rpm stall converter. Pete is concerned that its going to deliver more power than Ill want or need and that the rest of the car might not handle it. we will see : ) Anyways mate, keep well. Jas

Hi Jason, I think that little two wire thing on the firewall 40:40 has a tee to the heater flow valve, that rusted off thing and that thing is going to allow power to the ac compressor when the heater is off. My Fairlane doesn't have aircon so I can't let you know what the blocked off one is for but it could be the main vacuum line to the cabin control system valve. Normally for vacuum operated climate control you need the following vacuum hoses to the engine bay 1. Main vacuum from the intake manifold as a source of vacuum to make it all work 2. Heater tap or heater flow control valve to control the water flow to heater core 3. Vent to charcoal canister or catch can looking thingy lol This allows partial vacuum vent for temperature control to regulate the amount of vacuum to the heater flow valve thus giving variable heater core flow

Gday man! - The hump hole in floor, should have an outline to cut, in your floor, then you know itll be exact. Love pupper Daws!! Gratz to your son, in his next step in life, im sure you're a little nervous. Bloody wet weather in the last month has been crazy. We had 200kmh winds in the south last weekend. That small bosch box is likely to be the indicator relay, or wiper relay box. That dash fascia is incredibly brittle haha.

I wonder if they went to that much trouble at the factory to assemble that dash as it cost you to take it apart; probably not. I don't know what they did back then but I thought the dash would have been a complete assembly bolted on to the car as one unit. These days they drop them in through the windscreen opening or through the side. That speedo clip was supposed to be easy-on easy-off, but in my experience it was neither. Awwwwwe, I love Dawson. What's he up to these days ? And good on your son for his achievement, it's a fantastic career path for work and for life.

I watched the video all the way through, and I feel your frustration. I reckon you might be better off replacing some of that stuff with modern fittings - the aircon for one. But you’re doing a sterling job keeping records of everything. 🙂.
@BoyAnachronism01
@BoyAnachronism01 Жыл бұрын
Interesting you mention that mate… everything from the fire wall forward will be modern A/C paraphernalia… including the compressor mate : ) the ducting and AC box and the dash board all need to be original however because that gear is going into the coupe : ) it was a grueling vid to make. But the net result is that I have a detailed step by step document outlining the exact assembly process save in PDF form for anyone who needs it. Thanks for hanging in there mate… guys like you keep me inspired.

@@BoyAnachronism01 Thanks. I find that stuff interesting, so I always watch it. It draws me in - kind of like a moth to a flame 😂. It’s going to be a splendid car. I like how you renew or restore the little seemingly inconsequential things. I reckon I’m like that. In the end you you really do have a new car with no weak points.

@@WesW3187 exactly mate… break it down into its individual parts … clean them, repair them and reassemble… it’s the little things that make the difference at. Oh hey… an update on today, I spent 7 hours wet rubbing, cutting then polishing the boot lid… it’s perfect mate and has a reflection like glass. At the rate it will take 13 full days to completely perfect the paint finish.

@@BoyAnachronism01 How far are we behind with the videos? That’s the ultimate, having a paint job that’s so good, that when you put the extra hours in it rewards you with a perfect result. Can’t wait to see it 🙂.

@@WesW3187 last weekend I did the boot lid… I’m thinking I have 13 days of forensic pain correction ahead… allocating one day per door and rear quarter, two days for the roof and another 2 days for the bonnet and 3 days total for the front guards…. My fiancé has been prompting and reminding me that i should get the paint perfect before I put anything else on the car or it gets to heavy to be in the rotisserie… she knows me well mate and I’m not a young man any more and physically it is so much easier to cut and polish it in the rotisserie lol she’s a good girl
