In May of 1966 I landed in this country called Vietnam. I was a young 19 year Latino from South Central Los Angeles. If it wasn't for the music that we heard over the radio I'm not sure how well we military folks would have made it. So to all the great musicians and great groups like the Young Rascals who gave us...."It's a Beautiful Morning".....you helped a lot of young soldiers make it through another day over there. And those who God blessed and allowed us to come home to listen to more music of the next generation. I remember coming back home and went right back to my old job as a cashier at ABC Market in West Los Angeles and listening to this song call "ABC". The lead singer was a young boy called Michael Jackson.

How can it be innocent when it is a drug song? Its about sugar cubes laced with LSD. Its just vague about it. Don't get me wrong, I love Nancy's music and I think this is one of her very pleasant songs to listen to, but as a lifelong drug free person who had friends who were harmed by them, I prefer to not think about its drug meaning. You aren't thinking about it either, but the difference is you seem unaware of the ominous meaning in the first place. I prefer to face facts. Now you may want to go back to just pretending its totally innocent and that is your right. I am not blaming you for not having researched its meaning or not realizing in the first place, but I thought after all these decades this should be said because of the wording of your comment. Why do you think the singer's character thinks troubles no longer exist just because she lay down, never wanted a friend and can't tell she was being rained on? Plus why she wanted to give away money to make the world go away? The effects of LSD. Due to this, I'd never presume the song was about Nancy herself, and I'm not trying to find out, because I'm a feminist and that would mean prying into her personal life. I think people of an age range like you clearly are deserve to not have the wrong impression. I doubt Chiemi Hori's big hit "Tokyo Sugar Town" was about LSD. Have a nice day.
