Interesting that the conversation went to forgiving other peoples screw ups rather than being forgiven for our faults against others. Not saying anything wrong with that, just saying it seems easier for all of us to assume that other people are more at fault than we are. Great question. And I of course, resonate with what they said about the need to forgive others.

Oh yeah I hadn’t thought of that! I think it might be because if it was about ‘being forgiven’ rather than ‘forgiving’, we would be biased, as we inherently value being forgiven because it makes us feel better. Although I guess someone might say being forgiven is overrated because if you’re relying too much on external validation your inner peace is too fragile. Or that being forgiven is overrated because it might make you more likely to do wrong again since you ‘got away with it’ in a way.
