There is something about this drama that got the viewer's attention. The first 5 episodes will make you laugh, then as you watch it and follow the series it will make you sad, depressed, and cry. You start falling in love with Jandi, Jupyo, Jihu, and the rest. I have not watched the Thai version. There are 5 versions of Boys Over Flowers by Yoko Kamio the Japanese Manga Artist.

I watched this for the first time back in 2016 when I was trying to avoid watching things that were depressing or stressful. I wanted something to distract me after terrible days at work, dealing with family issues, and as I worked my way out of a terrible depression. The yelling and screaming was a bit much for me, in part because this is not the usual kind of show I gravitate towards, but I was hooked and was excited when it was time to sit and live in their world for a while. I've never watched any other K-Dramas since, but just started re-watching BOF again. It's cringey, it's overacted, but there's just something about certain characters that just hooks me in. Watching Jandi navigate a world that is not her own makes me put myself in her shoes and think of how I'd go about it, and that is it's own nice form of escapism. Thank you BOF. Also... if anyone can suggest a similar show on prime or youtube that is geared towards people in their late 20's, I'd appreciate :]

Oh, I don't know about similar but there are so many other great k dramas out there. Boys over flowers was my first drama. Then because I liked Lee Min Ho and Kim Bum I started to watch dramas they played in. The Heirs with Lee Mon Ho is a really good one. Also, Personal Taste. The woman who still wants to marry with Kim Bum was also another one I liked and I couldn't believe the character he plays. It was filmed imediately after BOF in 2009. And most recent one Tale of the nine taled 1938, season 2. Of course you need to watch season 1 first but season 2 is even better. But one of the dramas that will be in my heart forever is It's ok to not be ok. It's magic, the acting, the emotions, the crying, the laughing, it's just beyond words. It's healing. Korean dramas/movies are so different from American/European cinema, they are like from a different planet. They can be cringey, overacted as you said but they have something about them I cannot explain, somehow they have nothing to do with your brain, they go straight to your heart.

I love this show, I love the manga. I’ve never seen more human characters in my life. Yeah people don’t act like this in real life, but I love it how every character is super flawed and the show doesn’t try and hold it against them. And the show doesn’t try to make the main love interest someone he’s not, he just starts to grow and become better.

Jan-di never let Jun-pyo down except in one occasion (Caledonia). Jun-pyo was caught in between his evil mom & beautiful soul Jan-di. He's also aggressive & very possessive on Jan-di.. I think Jan-di was the only girl in K-dramas to be strong & steady in her relationship, even though she lost her home, parents, their business, swimming & at one point she was forgotten by her jun-pyo. Still she had hope in her true love. She also has own individuality. In real life Jan-di types of girls were rare. Jun-pyo was lucky to get her...

She holds on to Junpyo's promise. When Junpyo gave her the necklace that he designs and had it made for Jandi. It's the only one in the entire world. Jandi is the moon and Junpyo is the star. Moon is protected by stars and no matter what happens he would not leave her. Jandi had that necklace until the end because she knows in her heart that her true love would come back to her. I was touched when Junpyo said that to her. An amazing love story, some comments say It is a toxic relationship, but yes it is. They don't realize this is how they met, they were enemies and eventually fell in love.

I didn't realize how much I loved this movie. I love Meteor Garden ♥️ too, but some of the scenes in this I now wish that Meteor Garden had put more of the original version in the updated version or made a part 3 lol 😂. The actors were so handsome in this as well. Also, this should be more scenes of him coming back and them getting married and having children or something. I love how she wanted to make something of herself and not just depend on her boyfriend/husband-to-be. I hate that this will no longer be on Netflix to watch and again I wish more of these K Dramas were in English but I still love ❤️ them. I posted on Meteor Garden how much I love that version 10x better; but now that I watched this over again and again and again Lol. I was mistaken because there are scenes in this one that I truly love ❤️ as well even better than some of the scenes in Meteor Garden. I'm so bummed 😢 that they are taking it away!

Ku hye sun is perfect and no other could have played Jandi better than her. She is jandi. She brought the strong ,braveness also the spunk, cuteness to the character. She has good chemistry with both min ho and hyun joong.
