He told me he was conscripted into the German military towards the last year of the war and eventually immigrated to the United States and joined the US military, eventually retired and stayed in Korea.

@@sprprops1 Interesting…I thought that was an issue only exclusive to M1’s made in the 1980’s-1990’s, at least from what I read and seen in photos those were notorious for having oversized liners that couldn’t fit the shells nicely.

@@Tax_Collector01 helmet shells actually changed sizes during wwii as an early war steel pot will fit the fiber liners quite well but those same liners stick out badly on late war and post war made shells. The Vietnam pots are quite small and yes the 80s liners are a bit thicker than earlier ones.

The ironic thing about all the film/series quotes is that the wardrobe you are wearing is rentals from those productions. Most of the us helmets i saw in there were from the hbo series the Pacific. Scott was wearing a set of m36 suspenders made for the band of brothers production. The jackets and wool uniforms appear to be from monuments men/ fury productions.
