Cheat Sheet of Sorts: Home Free is a country a cappella group but they don’t stay in their assigned genre. They do all cover songs across the board. Their fan base call themselves Home Fries. Tim Foust (bass) can go as low as G1, not found on the standard keyboard. Some say his low notes are quite emasculating. Has, in fact, blown speakers (there’s videos out there of it). He actually has an impressive 5 octave range. It’s notable, that despite his fame, he’s very humble. He was inducted into the Museum of the Gulf Coast's music hall of fame January, 22, 2020, video of it is online. Adam Rupp, one of the founding members and the beat boxer (yes that’s a harmonica sound he’s creating without the instrument in “Man of Constant Sorrow”) has won at least two awards (that I’m aware of) in beat boxing. He is said to eat drum kits for breakfast and can be quite trying when on long bus tours- think of the character Jones from the movie Police Academy. He is also the brother of Chris Rupp (not in this video but earlier ones - left to pursue his own career) the other co-founder of Home Free. Austin Brown, lead tenor and the skinniest guy in the group, can hit some high notes (see When a Man Loves a Woman). He’s got that odd quirkiness to him and has a cat named Dawg (don’t know why that’s important to add). He also wrote an original Christmas song (so over due for one of those) called “Cold Hard Cash.” It showcases his comedic and writing talents. Rob Lundquist (glasses and long beard), from my state of Minnesota, has two kids and is considered the lower tenor (Austin being the higher tenor). He does a great job with Sir Mix-a-lot in their cover song “Butt Medley”, he’s also the grounding and all around force for the group (because there’s no idea just how out of control and quirkiness the group would be with Austin, Tim and Adam running wild). He also reminds me of Bobby Singer, a character from the t.v. show Supernatural, when he wears his red and black flannel with sunglasses. (Adam) Chance, called Chance so not to be confused with the drum kit (Adam Rupp), is the one making the Jew harp in the background of “Man of Constant Sorrow”. He’s the newest member, replacing Chris Rupp. More recent videos have him featured as lead singer (see Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison”and “Sea Shanty Medley”). He’s is actually a bass but sings bass-baritone in the group. And has an obsession with sea shanty melodies, one that I believe he is at fault for stoking the explosion on TikTok in order to get Home Free to make their own “Sea Shanty Medley.” But I can’t yet prove that yet. But I’m on to him. One Home Fry commented, to the “Hillbilly Bone” cover song, the joke is Chance plays a city folk when in fact he is from a place so far back in the boonies that they have to pipe sunlight in. The best things that make this a cappella group stand out is that they seem to have so much fun in making these videos, they’re versatile, and no one member is always center stage (they share the spot light - though Austin can seem over hyper comedic drama queen with flamboyant exaggeration {which we all love him for it}). Hope this helps.

They didn't win America's Got Talent. They won the NBC "The Sing Off" for a cappella groups & they won on season 4 in 2013. The instrument you were trying to think of that Adam Rupp sounds exactly like is the harmonica. He can imitate pretty much anything he sets his mind to!!! EVERYthing these guys do is absolutely amazing perfection! 🍟😊

Chance (beard in the back) is doing the walking bass line. Rob (lead) is a fantastic singer.. he has so many textures to his voice. I love them all, but Rob and Chance are the ones that really capture my heart when they sing. I suggest a Chance lead, “I Can’t Outrun You”; 5 part harmony and Chance directed the video. “Blue Ain’t Your Color “ is a Rob lead, shared with Chance. “My Church” is primarily Tim(bass) with the other 3 singers contributing. “Helplessly Hoping” is another 5 part harmony. And you must check out Adam Rupp drum solo from their concerts. He is unbelievable.

Your volume needs up a bit. Their volume needs up a bit more than that. No worries, though! 👍👍 I'm partial to fries from In & Out, but they need more salt! Welcome to the Home Fries! 😍 Front left: Tim Foust, super bass Front middle: Rob Lundquist, lead tenor Front right: Austin Brown, high tenor Back left: Adam Rupp, beat boxer Back right: Adam Chance, baritone/bass They are so talented!!! Tim has a range of 5 octaves, Chance has a range of four octaves. Rob is incredibly talented and gets overlooked sometimes. Austin changes in and out of falsetto so easily it's hard to tell when he does it! Adam is one of the original members and has been beat boxing for years and years. Sounds like he swallowed a drum kit with all the bells and whistles!

These guys do an amazing job of this song! They can do any genre including R&B. Rob's voice has so much feeling & soul in it. Austin adding his higher tones, Chance harmonizing in the back, Tim adding some bass & Adam with his fabulous vocal percussion. These guys are my favorite a cappella group out there. All their songs are good whether it is serious, heart warming or funny.

I have played in bands (Drummer) and this group is real and raw music. This beat box guy plays drums better than some drummers and he isn't playing a drum kit. This song brings up a lot of past history. Yep, even though I am married, there were girls I dated are still in my mind and probably won't ever forget. Not that I would cheat on my wife, wouldn't even think that way. However, there have been some special people (women) in my past, that will always be there. Truly Home Free is the real deal!!

Burger King over McDonalds and Wendy's if Burger King isn't available..lol. This song...oh man I remember how much radio play this got. MTV played this song every day repeatedly. Home Free took it and said "Here, hold my sweet tea". Loving watching you fall down the Home Free Rabbit hole! Oh, the audio on the video is really low. (You could turn you mic up just a teeny bit too. Oh..and the Adams had a lot to do in the back. Adam Chance was trading subharmonic bass with Tim Foust. Adam Rupp was holding down that beat. Adam Chance has lots on his lead in Home Free so this here was a definitely a Tenor highlight. Austin Brown and Rob Lundquist have amazing Tenor voices. Rob has a gospel/R&B quality too that makes you just tilt your head in wonder. Time for "My Church" (A Maren Morris cover) That one really sealed for me that they can do just about anything with their voices interchangeably. 🍟👏👏👏👏👏👏

Honestly, you can't go wrong with these guys. Pick whichever sing you want to check out and they'll blow you away one way or another. My personal favourite is usually the one they just released, and they release 1-2 videos per month and has done so since the summer of 2014, with only a few exceptions. You can jump back and forth in time, or go somewhat from the Sing-Off and forward. The choice is yours, we're here for it! It's good to know that they did a member change in May/June 2016 when the founding member Chris Rupp, baritone, left for other projects and Adam Chance (goes by Chance), baritone-bass, stepped in instead. They also have collaborated with a number of well-known artists including Kenny Rogers, Alabama, the Oak Ridge Boys, Lee Greenwood and Don McLean. They actually did American Pie with Don McLean last year and it was only the second time ever he studio recorded it. They also performed at Diana Ross' 75th birthday party a few years ago after she'd binged watched their videos and fell in love with their music. These fellas are fascinating to follow. Thanks for the reaction. Keep them coming! 🥰🙏

You want to get real familiar with the guys before you react to Mayday... it's a pop tune sung by a female artist Cam and they sing it in her key. There are a couple that really showcase Tim Foust bass... Brothers in Arms and Misty Mountain by Peter Hollens and Tim. They all take leads except for the beatboxer Adam Rupp and he's got several concert videos of his drum solos. Austin is high tenor and shines in When a Man Loves a Woman. Rob does great in the cover of Blue Ain't Your Color...he is an exceptionally pure tenor. Adam Chance (called Chance as there are two Adams) sings baritone to bass, so he has quite a range. He does a great lead on Cover Me Up.
