Thank you so much for your video. You make chemistry not as daunting and scary as it may seem, I wish all chemistry teachers were as great as you. It brings me so much relief to actually understand what's being taught as you introduce the topics gradually and interestingly in your videos, instead of simply throwing definitions and problems at students. You remind me why I'm fascinated with chemistry, or just science in general, in the first place and that a deep knowledge of these subjects is indeed attainable.

This is chemistry man you must keep it within scientology terms. Don't want to send any cool kid signals to these nerds who expect bad boys like you to be unsuccessful in life. Holy saint Stephen Hawkin will not be pleased to know cool kids are infiltrating the protected realm of scientology. Religious people aren't allowed either shhhhhh

While your video was helpful with explaining the concept, a lot is desired with explaining the formulas. You didn't explain where you got your numbers when doing the Products/Reactants equations, you just stated what it equaled and whether it was a strong or weak acid.

How do you get the kw= 1X10^-7 from the kw provided?
@desaflay7 жыл бұрын
I feel like there is supposed to be an index to get these numbers to get the kw/ka. Also what are the differences between kw or ka.
@ffaiq7 жыл бұрын
its 1 to 1 ratio kw = 10^-14 which equals [h3o+][oh-] and since its 1 to 1 then [10^7][10^7]

where do you get the value of products over reactants? to find Ka?
@kbarracuda8 жыл бұрын
you should be given an initial concentration, or a pH/pOH value and then use an ICE table to figure out the Ka. You can also divide the Kw by the k Kb of the cojugate base to find the Ka. Sorry this is over a month due, but hopefully it'll help someone else!

You had me until you said [H3O+]=[OH-]=1x10^-7. I don't see how you came to that conclusion
@gregmcglothern57239 жыл бұрын
+Greg McGlothern should I just take that on face value as some kind of constant?
@salukistudent1019 жыл бұрын
+Greg McGlothern- The Kw for water is always 1x10^-14 and if that equals the concentration of of hydronium ion and hydroxide ion (which are also equal) then each of the concentrations must equal 1x10^-7. But this is just a fact of the concentration of hydronium and hydroxide ions in water. It will always be true and can be taken as fact.
@jollyjokress38529 жыл бұрын
+Kalene Huber So this means that Hydronium and Hydroxide are always "in the water" in equal amounts if water eventually reacts to become H3O+ and OH -?
@user-zf7pr6hc5o9 жыл бұрын
+Greg McGlothern SAME
@salukistudent1019 жыл бұрын
+Vera Maria Yes they are always in the water. The water molecules are constantly reacting to create OH- and H3O+ but they also are constantly doing the reversed reaction. So water will never become only hydroxide and hydronium ions
