I don't have any worksheets for my videos, however I know that some Biology teachers have created them. Let me know if you find any.

xxxMcBrosephxxx hey I was scrolling through and realized this was five years ago and you noted you were a freshman at the time. Are you in college now? If so are you majoring in biology? Or were you a freshman in college? Lol

Bozeman Science You state early in the video that Linnaeus didn't believe in Darwinian evolution and he didn't think it was right. That is very misleading. Lineaus predated Darwin and died before Darwin was born, so he had no opinion on Darwinian evolution. I do not know if he had any opinion on the general concept of biological change over time or the fossil record. I do know that Darwin had a great deal of respect for Linneaus and saw the taxonomy as evidence for evolution from a common ancestor.

"Linnaeus didn't believe Darwin was right" ? Darwin lived 100 years after CL
@lucasmedeiros25110 жыл бұрын
He obviously meant evolution itself. The thought of an animal be descendent from others had long existed before Darwin and in that concept Linnaeus did not believe. Darwin was the first to formulate a scientific argument for the theory of evolution, thus the name Charles Darwin is automatically related to theory of evolution, vice-versa.

Science is an exact field. That sentence still sounds ridiculous to me.
@lucasmedeiros25110 жыл бұрын
1st: his sentence wasn't scientific. 2nd: although he made a little mistake, he got to the right point 3rd: in many areas of biology you first learn wrong but simpler theories and just then you can learn the proper, but harder ones. i.e: Enzymes you first need to learn Lock and Key model and just after you learn that you'll learn the induced fit model. Do you think that's ridiculous as well? Why learn a theory that's wrong and not exact!? My point: stop complaining about little things that do not interfere what really matters. And if that's so important to you, you're more than welcome to email him and tell him about such a 'ridiculous' sentence.

The right approach would have been, instead of someone trying to belittle the error, the author saying, thanks for pointing that out and editing his video.

You are very helpful. I really like your videos. They explain things a lot easier. Don't really agree with evolution though. But I look past that and just focus on the science.
@allisonhaynes27019 жыл бұрын
Saying that Linnaeus did not believe in (better terminology accept) evolution does not make sense. He cannot accept or not accept a concept that was not developed and published until 81 years after his death. He died in 1778, Darwin was not born until 1809, did not start his research until 1831 and didn't publish until 1859. Do your homework!
@josephrineer92198 жыл бұрын
+Allison Haynes Hi Allison. Evolution can be traced back to Aristotle and perhaps even before his time. Darwin is noted for developing his idea of natural selection (also proposed by Alfred Wallace), the mechanism by which evolution functions. Many other scientists have tried to explain the mechanism in a variety of ways, Lamarck is often used as an example. The idea that organisms adapt and change over time was well documented prior to Darwin's journey and publications; however, his idea is the best explanation we have (had) that fits the evidence although the modern synthesis of evolution is slightly different from Darwin and Wallace's idea since they did not know about genes and DNA.

+Joseph Rineer he said "linnaeus didn't belive darwin was right". Even though this fact is wrong the way he puts it to show the shift in taxanomic grouping gives us a better understanding.

I thought king Phillip came over for green soup. :-P I added damn at the begining of that because I've taken different biology classes over a period of decades, and taxonomy was always changed from the last time I learned it. Biology is messy and complex and doesn't like to be pinned down into the neat little groups humans like to put things in.
@fruitshroomzcs55767 жыл бұрын
Ummmmmm carl linnaeus was not alive when darwin had his theory of evo. (Evolution) you should repost or edit it due to the fact that some people will use this knowledge and may make some people that know the correct informatino unhappy. I understand that this information is all true, but please try not to repeat this mistake again, but in other ways you are all set!
