this is soo helpful thank you so much! can you do a video on genetic comparisons using DNA and proteins (i know that kind of what you said in this video but I need more detail for the international Alevel spec especially on: DNA hybridisation and immunological comparisons of proteins - more specifically the process carried out.

7:16 "We need a system to organise them. Why?" 3rd point: "System is based on putting organisms into groups." - That is tautologic, asking: "Why do we organise them into a system?" - "Because we organise them into groups."

Hey They are organised into groups to make it easier to track and monitor numbers, for example to manage engendered animals. Also to help study evolutionary relationships. The third point, the emphasis is they are organised into groups according to their physical similarities (e.g. similarities DNA base sequences). Hope that helps clarify this topic for you

@@LolaMcManus Hi, before I go further, I'm aware this video is over 4 years old, but that doesn't make any difference to the knowledge at that time. Perhaps you consulted; a) an older phylogeny and used its data b) consulted a phylogeny based upon morphology rather than genetics, which may explain some of the errors Reptiles The placement of turtles; crocodilians and birds form sister groups, with turtles as an outgroup. You have it as crocodilians and turtles forming sister groups and birds as the outgroup. Or, if it's easier for you to understand; turtles and birds should swap places. Mammals Aardvark is completely out of place, it shouldn't be nested amongst any of the placentals listed. Pigs are artiodactyls, the same group as sheep and cattle, therefore they are not an outgroup to all the others above them. Rodents are a sister group of rabbits, you have them as an outgroup to all other placentals listed. That's a lot of errors, making the entire phylogeny a mess. Well, aside from the placement of marsupials and monotremes, that's correct.

I skimmed through the rest of the video, it seems fine, but the theory of _this part_ is wrong, the tree is very flawed, as outlined in my response above. I find it strange you didn't reply to me directly.
