@@EllEff652 Bozo strikes me as more of a wine drinker than whisky. Since this video's old and he's in Chicago, I'm guessing either Night Train or Thunderbird. However, if he were to drink whisky, it'd likely be Jim Beam since it's more popular in the North. Jack Daniels is more popular in the South. Rumor had it Bozo's assistant Cooky would drink shots of Jim Beam before each taping.

I was on the show in 1976, and they picked the contestants by "Magic Arrows." The problem with that is that the arrows would often land on adults or babies, and they would have to keep spinning. That is probably why they changed to the "Bozoputer." It's probably not really a computer, as it looks like an analog display that someone is manually changing. They probably issue raffle tickets to the kids and draw tickets from a hat, then display whatever number they draw, and it's probably a computer like many other science fiction shows that had things that looked like computers.

I'm amazed at how many of you posters think Bozo is drunk in this clip. I can assure you that he is NOT DRUNK!!!! This is how the actor, Bob Bell, portrayed the character. He always had a gravely type of voice. In fact, when he first started playing the character, his voice was much higher. Plus he wore a red suit in the first decade of the shows existence. If you remember hearing a much more cheerful Bozo growing up watching the show on WGN, you're thinking of Joey D'Auria playing Bozo. This was one of the last few tapings in Bob Bell portrayed the character. The set you are seeing premiered in early 1984. Bob Bell retired April 4th of that year. Why did he retire? He played the character for 23 years and was part of the WGN Staff even longer. He also did early morning Staff Announcements before he would get into his Bozo character. He worked hard at his job and always gave it 100%, especially as Bozo. He was not fired. He was NEVER intoxicated while as the Bozo character. He simply retired, and it was a well deserved retirement.
