Bp Renegades Win Panorama 2019

With a captivating arrangement that included snippets of "Here Comes the Bride," BP Renegades ran away with the Panorama 2019 crown.

I can't get over that wonderful intro. Those opening 45 seconds really grab you, Duvone did a fantastic job establishing the main chorus of the song and creating a lot of anticipation, getting the listener ready for 8 minutes of blissful music. I never get tired of listening to this arrangement, I play it all the time. From the very first note to the last, there's not a moment that I don't like. And wow, those crescendos...so effective as a transition piece and very professional. Reminds me of a traditional classical orchestra. Duvone has done the Renegades name proud, that rich lyrical sound that Jit created for them, it's so distinctive from the other bands. I'm already looking forward to his arrangement next year!

A well deserved victory! The Pan Master Duvonne has discovered the "balance" between presentation and pan artistry! He is a fantastic storyteller! The presentation of "Good Morning" by Renegades during Panorama Finals remains a classic eight minute approach to the history of T &T. Congrats Gades!

The "balance"...that is the KEY he has right now-- u hit it on the head. That "Good Morning" performance would've gave him the "hat trick" but they took the wrong flag on stage and lost pts it was said lol🤷🏾‍♂️

This performance is just unbeatable.I am an avid follower of this band since childhood. Grew up with this band and I am proud of its achievement. Renegades really outdid themselves this year. The music is so superior, Duvon is a gifted arranger and the young players just responded.

Totally agree. Arranger players relationship is key in competitions of this magnitude. Prime example, conductor Dudamel and the Venezuelan's youth orchestra. The results tell it all.

They brought tears to my eyes each time I lessen to them. Its not just the music, but the performance, the sweetness of the pans, the skills of the pan players, I left home 19 years ago, I only really miss home this time of the year .I too am a panness, oh well use to be.

Jit started a phenominal orchestra and now, his heirs have taken over, with innovative sounds, , I have been a renegades fan for years, no other bands came close to this band, this year!! I heard them all in the prelims, there was no comparison to this band, they were in the stratosphere, in the finals. P.S. Loved the tock-tock, and iron, clearly heard through it all. Congratulations !!

@@handellcharles4279 Well I didn't know much about Jit son arranging for this band all I know is that when he died I thought that was it for Renegades and that they would have lost their signature. The band got back my attention in 2017 Douvon has been playing with this band since he was 15 he would have learnt alot from Jit. You can here it in his use of the guitar pan and by extension the arrangement used on the other pans. I went back and listened to Jit 's arrangements and Douvon having played under Jit you can hear core values in Douvon arrangements from the school of Jit. Prior to the Final of 2017 the intro for Good morning sounded like Jit. But from that final when he made the changes Douvon began to establish his signature and his arrangement for renegades since then has been phenomenal. I have never listened to pan as much as I have now and not get annoyed and bored. I can sing for you the arrangements of different pans for 2017 Good morning 2018 Year For love and 2019 Hooking Meh. I do not know the circumstances behind the removal of Jit's son But Douvon has brought this band back to the front and he is a true Renegade and carry's the legacy of Jit Samaroo. He understands that pan is more than a musical instrument putting musical arrangements together, that it is theater, it is entertainment, that a story can be told and that people pay their money so give them a show. I have never appreciated pan as much as I have now and its because of these arrangements by Douvon. So don't be dismayed with this band you can be sure there is a future in it. People told they hear everything when this band plays

Duvon and I were in music class together. He was also the pan player for the school choir and his ability to improvise during class and when we were performing always amazed us. I had a lot of fun times with him during those years while we were learning music. That Renegades sticker on his pan was always there as well. I'm really really proud of him.

Once again I must say, I enjoy listening to the sound of the steel band music, especially when the band is playing a tune I can identify with.. If a band is playing a tune I cannot identify with, I become like a lost sheep in Babylon, I can only listen and enjoy the sound of the pan/instrument.. At this year’s panorama three songs were played the most, but my favorite was “Garbage Bag” played by the Renegades Steel band. Each night leading up to the panorama finals, I would visit the pan yard just to listen to the tune being played over and over, as it takes control of my body… at times the music can only be described as being orgasmic.. Based on face expressions, and body gyrations, I sense everyone was also enjoyed the music.. Congratulations fellas..

Dr. Samaroo would have been really proud of his protegee. I listen this over and over and.... except for one minor flaw, the maestro's attention should primarily be on the job at hand and forget the bride until the wedding march. She should only be visible at the end of the presentation. That was a distraction. Congratulations again to BPR for an excellent job. Wow!

I have always loved Trinidad steel bands, because they are just the BEST IN THE WORLD. They invented pan, and they continue to advance it in so many ways. Unfortunately there are now others who try to copy it, and make a total cock up of it. We learn to play by air, so to see band with music stands in front of them, thinking that they look Kool or professional, they look stupid, and like a bunch of idiots, we learn by air, and remember it. just look at not only renegades/ desperadoes, and every single band in Trinidad practice practice practice till they get to Panorama night. GREAT GREAT STUFF. THANKS TO ALL THE BANDS.
