I have read everything I could find about BPPV and Vestibular Neuritis. But my Vestibular Neuritis never went away, and hasn't changed or improved. It does seem to get worse the day before a rain, hot humidity or very cold weather when the barometric pressure changes in the atmosphere or if Im flying on an airplane. On Feb-2-2016, I woke up with vertigo, all the symptoms that go along with it, never had tinnitus before this but it has remained quite loud too. I also had spinning sensation and double vision vertically and horizontally and a massive headache. At the time I did have a bad cold. I have had issues since childhood with sinuses draining into my ears. I did have tubes put in as a child. It has been 6.5 years later, and my vertigo never went away. I deal with it every day as soon as my head gets off the pillow, the spinning starts. So if my head is in motion-moving or if my body is in motion and my head is not moving traveling in a car, I get the same reactions and symptoms. The Neurotologist Inner Ear Specialist at Barnes Hospital in St Louis Missouri was my final diagnosis of Vestibular Neuritis. I had seen 2 ENTs, Audiologist and the Nuerologist Brain Specialist to rule out a stroke, brain bleed, tumor or multiple sclerosis. I was told by my inner ear doctor that in my case the damage to vestibular nerves from inner ears to brain was permanent and that I would first have to accept and then adapt to my new life with this disorder. Which I have done. Only thing that helped me with the anxiety, depression and stress that comes also with this was for me to retire early. I have been retired almost 2 months now and loving it. I have a question for you? I also have diabetes for a long time and it has done some damage to my optic nerve causing glaucoma so to keep my vision as good as it can be, I see a Retina Dr every 4 months. Is it possible that the diabetes could have played some role in the vestibular nerve damage? I wonder because I do have neuropathy pain kind of feels like ear aches all the time and the ear ringing never stops either. Just wondering since diabetes does damage to other nerves in the body. Thanks.

I have had 3 episodes. Each 10 years apart. After each episode I do recover, but it takes time. Several months really. I too am diabetic (T1) There may be a connection, who knows. Hope you feel better soon 👍 I am on week 3 of the latest episode & am still feeling unsteady under foot & still have a little "brain fog"

Hello Susan, I have been suffering from what you similarly described. I’m 35, and have been dealing with these strange type of headaches that are usually accompanied by crippling anxiety, for about ten years now. I saw a doctor for it once and he prescribed an antidepressant which only made things worse. My symptoms appear when under stress, if I consume a lot of sugar’s/trans fats, on a plane, boat, or in back of a car, or lack of exercise. I am eager to know more about what is triggering these dizzy spells then anxiety and vice versa. Any information you could provide is appreciated 🙏🏼

An excellent and somewhat comprehensive explanation of your problem, signs, symptoms, method of diagnosis, the outcomes from your treating physicians, and what you have done to address the problem in order to get on with your life. Yes, I too am experiencing this very problem. As I type this comment, I feel the forward and backward swaying, as if I am living on a small yacht or boat.. Well, I think I understand what is happening in my case. Here, this problem began for me on or about the Spring of 2019. In my particular case, it kinda came on suddenly one morning as I leaned forward in the bathroom to clean myself. As I leaned forward, I suddenly began feeling out of balance. I though it was temporary, but as the weeks and months passed, I began to associate the broken upper molar, just below where my middle ear is. As my upper molar went untreated, the 2020 worldwide pandemic hit, I was not being seen by a dentist to perform an extraction of the tooth. 2020 turned eventually into 2021. I managed to get my dentist to finally perform an extraction, and the tooth upon the extraction, was absolutely [Putrid]. One of the worst smells a person smells when one smells infection; pure and simple. Well, the dentist prescribed Amoxicillin, and after two regiments, believe it or not, I was able to stand normally while showering. Problem is: After about a week, the problem slowly started coming back. I thought: I didn't get enough antibiotics to fully abate the infection, and the infection had traveled upward; reaching my middle ear, which was the cause of both Inflammation, a bulging ear drum as I was later told, and that the problem would be treated with liquid prednisone. Nope, though I took the meds, it didn't work, so I went back. The doctor later.., prescribed Amoxicillin with Augmentum. After two regiments, I began to feel some improvement, but not a complete recovery. Well, that was last Fall; August-September, 2021. Though I feel a bit better, I clearly believe that Vestibular Nerves were damaged a bit, as from my Ask Google Research, *they say the [damaged vestibular nerves] don't heal very well, and that the damage unfortunately becomes a permanent injury, sigh.. I'm constantly somewhat dizzy, and though there has been some improvement due my my doing all the balance exercises, though my exercises have made walking around the house and to the store somewhat normal, the problem tends to make me feel, that Life is just not quite what it once was now, if that makes any sense. My opinion: Since the nerves appear to be a bit damaged, instead of just putting up with this and trying to learn to live with it, ..I'm seriously thinking about Stem Cell Therapy for this problem, as some of my research is saying, some of the therapies are showing a bit of efficacy toward returning balance as the stem cells, injected into the target area, can regrow the appropriate cells, and the subjects experienced improvement with middle ear function. I hope this long-winded comment is helpful, because You are not alone in this problem, as I am dealing with it myself, and am doing my own research to address and potentially solve this somewhat complex problem. - You take care.., and all the best. MDM, JD Candidate. Fresno, CA. - Peace. \\// :)

I dont know which doctors to trust. I had a neuro episode in Jan 2021 diagnosed and debated as to whether or not my condition is,was or still may be as of 12/22 Vestibular. I've have swelling in my brain and balance and equilibrium daily for almost 2 years. How come noone can determine what's wrong ?

@@janlewis567 Hi Ms Lewis. Doesn't help trust medical science practitioners very much when we know the technology is there to find out what's going on. Maybe a compassionate concerned family member or friend will muster the fortitude to research Neurological Medical Institutions that specialize in Brain Science Explorations in yur behalf. I'm currently trying to do some investigative research myself. If I come up with anything soon I'll try to let you know via KZbin. I have no other way really to communicate with folks. God bless you. I'll be praying for you. Trust and rest in Jesus. Everything's going to e ok. Eat healthy. Try to walk some and practice breathing exercises. But what would cause one to lose eye control? I can turn my head and my eyes will roll in the opposite direction. When I have a bad vertigo case I lose control of my eyes all together and they will roll in opposite directions. One up, one down, one left, one right. I can never see it because I can't focus my eyes enough to not see double.

There's a test called Nystagmography where they check if eyes move in tandem. Ive been dealing with vestibular imbalance and dizziness for 5 years now.. the doc who did the Nystagmography on me said the nerve damage was permanent. I have chronic fatigue from the sense of imbalance and dizziness..I'm afraid my quality of life is slowly declining.. I can't exercise much as the dizziness kicks in,, and is very uncomfortable, and raises my anxiety. So here's what I read once about the vestibular nerve, it performs 3 functions : 1. Physical balance, ability to walk on a straight line. 2. Posture... I sway back and forth if I close my eyes and stand without support.. I have to hold on to the escalator when using it 3. Gaze stabilisation ... This may be the one causing the lack of eye coordination n control. Nystagmography will clearly show if the eyes move in tandem or not. My best wishes
