Tim, Dennis was the originator of the pattern and BPS stands for Barbara's Problem Solver after his wife who is a fine angler. Unfortunately, Denis passed away in 2012 but, through his classes left a wealth of knowledge, and some other fantastic patterns, to cement his legacy. Best regards, Ken

Hey Tim, I just used this fly yesterday on picky trout in a Connecticut stream, and it worked great. I caught a rainbow on the second cast!

This is now my favorite fly...works great on the rivers in North-East Italy when they won't take anything else. I usually start with other flies so they get used but when those aren't producing (when I'm getting skunked), this usually gets a rise for me if nothing else. That said, I've never not had a take off this fly. Great videos by the way, you are a wonderful resource and have helped me tremendously in my tying.

Tim: thanks for the technique for getting the hair in just the right position to ensure a good looking head without crowding the eye - a case of looking at process a little bit differently

Hey Tim, I am now a guide for Shannon's Fly and Tackle. If you wanna go fishing in the gorge this winter or summer let me know. Hopefully I can learn a lot from you and Jim. Keep doing what your doing hopefully we see each other in the gorge some time.

have you tried adding a small post so that its more visible?
@go5hole188 жыл бұрын
Another beauty! Tying some of these up today for sure. Question: do you think adding a small hot spot on top of the wing to aid in visibility would be a good idea? One of my favorite caddis hatches happens in a canyon with flat light, and I can never seem to track my bugs on the water (until it's too late) without some sort of visual aid.
@tightlinevideo8 жыл бұрын
+awER4f Definitely give it a try, these things float so low, I'm not sure a simple hot spot would make it that much more visible. I'll give it a try here too. Most of the time, I'll just look for a rise or a swirl in the generally area of where I think the fly is and set regardless.

Great looking fly - THANKS! Do you dilute the Sally Hansen's or use it straight up out of the bottle?
@tightlinevideo8 жыл бұрын
+Fred Block Straight out of the bottle. As the applicator bottle gets low the SH gets a little thicker, I just add some more new SH to thin out the mix.

Does anyone else use the half hitch mag bobbin and find it frays the thread really easy and it breaks ? I thought about filein down the end of the bobbin cause it feels a little sharp any tips ?
@tightlinevideo8 жыл бұрын
+james gillis James, get in touch with the guys at Rite Bobbin if your Half Hitch Mag is fraying thread. Occasionally one will have a tube with a rough spot from the start. They're great about coming up with ways to smooth it out or simply replace the bobbin.
@james-lt8ry8 жыл бұрын
+tightlinevideo thank you I'll be contacting them asap. Other than the fraying problem I am super pleased with the bobbin I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a nice tying bobbin
@balor78 жыл бұрын
what type of bobbin do you use?
@vloggingwitharnold22717 жыл бұрын
balor7 it appears to be a rite bobbin. Last time I checked they run a bit over $30

A peacock body like this will probably come undone after a trout or two (those nasty little trout teeth) . After tying the peacock all the way down, leave the bobbin right there at the back, wind the peacock body and then bring the bobbin with the thread back up ribbing the peacock body with the thread or just leave a long waste tag of thread and rib it with that

+Kamil Ponikowski Eight fish on a single one of these flies last night, had to use the forceps twice. No problem with the herl coming undone. Must be the heavy thread I'm using.

+tightlinevideo Once again we have completely different fishing experiences, how strange... I guess trout overseas are just different ;-) Hahaha nice subtle shot with the thread line ;-)
