Having seen that nerve cells from Autistic individuals have more connections than controls and the brains of autistics tend to be heavier brains than those who don't carry the diagnosis, I've always wondered if brains exhibiting Autism haven't undergone the "pruning" we see in developing brains. That might explain the childlike repetitive behaviors of the autistic and their greater response to sensory stimuli...

@@dianalee1589 Interesting. I once read a comment by a German who thought that Germany was an "autistic" country. I think you could say the same for much of Northern Europe tbh esp Scandinavia. Even though the term and the man have been discredited, it's no surprise that Mr Asperger was Teutonic.

What you might see more of in women is non-launguag learning disability in women. I have autistic traits and a female friend with NLLD. It seems to me this disablity would be a female track that autism may take. I had delay in talking, good spacial skills but poor coordination and social skills. My friend had precocious language skills but deficits in spatial skills and structure thinking. Actually more complicated than that but there appeared to be a shift in female trates to the point of disability. What I found interesting is my friend did not have problems in early schooling like I did but started having trouble later in schooling when more thought was needed in assignments. Solving problems and getting higher level concepts would excape her. So if this is how autism is expressed more often in females then females often would not be noticed as having problems in the early grades and may simply thought of kind of a dingbat in later schooling but not thought of as having a disability. I think this might be part of the discrepancies between male and female having autism it that it might be displaying differently in the sexes.

It is because the first researchers to describe the externally observable differences between schizophrenia and autism did so using a pre-teen or teen male sample set. Since girls express the challenges differently, they don't "fit the mold" of boy-behavior.

Who gives. Males are more impacted since they are already at a disadvantage socially even as neurotypicals in todays day and age. Let alone the autistic males that just dont get it. I will NEVER shut up about this point, it is way more damaging and harder on the MALE sex! Women almost always have outlets and support systems men can only dream of, especially autistic males that have felt worthless their entire lives. Its a cruel tragedy that, as always, women seem to be the most affected. Its disgusting that they also overshadow the KZbin search algorithms with their performative "look at how quirky i am checklist" bullshit that is just anotherr grift for their pathetic need to be the center of attention all the damn time. They overshadow the actual good MALE content creators that are way more relatable. Girl power my ass. I wish they would all eff off to some desginated hen island and leave us at peace.

If you know anything about autism it is likely because of his work. He has devoted his entire life to it and this is well known.
