nothing wrong with "filming vvomen" or "filming men" or whatever - any excuse to infringe on the photographer
@Right-Turn-Clyde9 ай бұрын
@MostlyLoveOfMusic Society has demonised photographers, especially men, by thinking that every man taking photos around kids is a nonce and every man taking photos near ladies is a pervert. About 10 years ago I got very serious about landscape and seascape photography and I especially liked shooting seaside towns and small harbours like the ones around Devon and Cornwall. I wanted to start doing more night and low light photos so I bought myself a professional tripod. I already had a couple of DSLR's and a selection of lenses but because I was going to be doing long exposures a tripod was essential. That made my life a nightmare because people started accusing me of targeting kids. Why a tripod made any difference is beyond me. I'd be standing behind my camera taking long exposures of the sea sometimes lasting 30 to 60 seconds and people would walk across my photo. This didn't matter because it was usually so dark the camera wouldn't pick up moving people. The problems started if the shutter closed as somebody with kids was walking by. They thought I'd taken photos of the kids and would get angry with me. If I could calm them down I'd show them the photo I'd taken and their aggression generally turned to fascination and they'd want to know why they weren't on the photo. Sometimes they wouldn't calm down and I was threatened with all sorts and they'd tell other people walking along that I was taking photos of kids. Eventually I just gave up on it and now just do it in the winter when there's fewer people about. It's a shame that people's twisted imaginations ruined a part of my hobby I got a lot of joy from. People who know me think it's hysterical because I have a deep dislike of children and much prefer my dogs. The last thing I want to take photos of is people I don't know, and especially their children. Even though I don't like kids I wouldn't do them any harm and if a child is in trouble I will help them. In the summer of 2022 I found a girl around 6 or 7 crying her eyes out and she was terrified because she was lost on a very crowded beach. People were just ignoring her and I felt sorry for her so I approached an elderly couple and asked the lady to help me because I was on my own having nipped to the local loo. We both approached the girl and talked to her and found out her Mums name and I walked along calling out leaving the girl with the lady. After about a minute a couple came up to me in a panic and I took them back to the lady to collect their daughter. Had I not been able to find somebody to help I don't know what I'd have done because all I could think about is being accused of kidnapping or worse. It turned out the parents would have been fine but the attitude of people had prevented me from helping sooner and while I understand I think it's a sad way to live.

@@Right-Turn-Clyde This reminds me of something that happened a while ago. On our local Facebook page for the area, there was a post about someone flying a drone near some flats. 4 storeys high. The woman was quite irate, and lived on the 3rd floor. She was saying someone was looking in her windows, etc. I was out with my dog (drone pilots love of dogs appears later) and had seen the guy before the post had appeared. So when I read it I knew she was mistaken. The guy was filming the sunset, over the hills in the distance, and was there for a few nights in a row. The post had the usual people who know nothing saying he was all sorts. Anyway someone called the police on him and he happily showed them his footage. She still wasn't happy, even when the police said his drone was never pointed at the flats, wanted him carted off. A few months go by, and her wee dog runs off. She has a post up asking people to keep an eye out for it. With the help of sightings, and that very drone pilot her dog was found in some woods a few miles away. He volunteers for a lost dog charity and saw the posts and used his drone to pinpoint where it was going. So the police could catch it and return it to her. It was only when she thanked them that it became apparent she had phoned the police on him months beforehand.

When people can't get their way they attack. Like the "Are you a pervert?" or the vulnerable women crappla and then there was the tit in the hybrid hairdressers car who didn't like the answer so went down the inappropriate path and then says get a life. Given the choice of slogging 9 to 5 in the office to earn somebody else money or riding around on a bike, keeping fit, taking photos and videos and flying an unmanned aircraft, I know what I'm going to choose. And I did, I retired at 37 in 2005 and have lived a life of leisure every since. I get told I should get a job quite often, usually when people turn up to do some sea fishing and find me in their favourite spot over and over again. They assume I'm unemployed and claiming benefits but I've never claimed a penny. I built and sold a business and now I live a simple life paying my way with the spoils of 18 years of working long hours and 7 day weeks of hard work and now spend about half the year holidaying in my motorhome with my wife aha dogs. I don't tell the haters anything because it's none of their business but they don't like it when I won't react to their insults.

Eyup BP, when you get folk who don’t understand the taking photos of buildings and people, you should ask “When you’re on holiday, do you ask everyone in a photo for permission to film them, or get permission from every building owner to have their building in the photo”? Best example would be London tourist attractions, theme parks and Blackpool even, how many folk ask the tower owners for permission to shoot that? No doubt you’ll get the “Yeah but that’s different” reply. It also makes me laugh when they say “Why don’t you go film them instead of us”? Like it’s ok to film them but not us 🤣🤣 Would love a day out with you if ever you’re in West Yorkshire. Keep up the good work ✊
