ROTHERHAM MASBOROUGH STATION in FEBRUARY 1987
On a short visit on a chilly Winter's day I visited Rotherham station and in the short period I was there I witnessed a variety of traction on a variety of stock. A few MGR trains were seen surprisingly hauled by class 47's and local as well as cross country passenger services. 1st generation DMU's were abound on local trains in and out of Sheffield nearby and "LE" movements including a single class 20 locomotive also a "Peak" was seen being dragged by a solitary class 20, (not heading for "Booth's Scrapyard" around the corner thankfully) Not yet anyway. Enjoy this one off memory from this location, just over 36 years ago!....

My local station now closed and deserted. In the days of steam when coal was king it was a joy to spend a day there the amount of freight was unbelievable. Thanks for the memories.

Went on those trains (in the early 90s) as they were still running. Happy days with that loud screaming engines as they chugged away down the line. Music to my ears.

Love seeing this as it brings back so many memories of how great the railway scene was back them. We're lucky to have been around at that time.

Makes you realise just how recent it was that the country ran on coal as much as oil and gas. Love the Class 20 in BR "BIg" livery that you had at 14:03 - Am I the only one that's thinking "Blimey, how long did the Type 1 DMUs last up North?" 1987 and its not all Pacer's and Sprinter's?!

God I don’t even recognise it. I’ve been thorough Rotherham by car more times than I count and Rotherham station has always been a two track station. This view is a complete 180 to me, I didn’t even know Rotherham used to have four platforms.
