As an American interested in British rail these videos are an excellent brief history lesson. Well done!

Great video about an overlooked subject. Thank you. I had a Dublo tinplate MK1 coupled to two tinplate suburban coaches pulled by an A4 (Silver King). Hardly authentic! But fun. Now running four Mainline MK1’s in Crimson and Cream behind the Lord Nelson. Really like the Chocolate and Cream too. Note to self- Christmas is coming.

Thanks Peter, authenticity can be fun but its good to run trains just how you want them too :-) Thanks for watching.

Thanks Clive, good to hear from you. If I remember rightly your layout is the ideal setting for the Sealink coaches too. Thanks for watching - Dave.

I often wonder why more composite or all firsts were saved for use on preserved lines? The ones I have travelled on , are all open seconds or brake seconds.
@HattonsModelRailways4 жыл бұрын
Hi, I'd imagine that the Composite and Firsts were earlier withdrawals, meaning that less of these vehicles had a chance of surviving into preservation. The open and brake second vehicles survived until a lot later, when more preserved railways were around to save them.

I have four pairs of coaches in my 00 rolling stock collection. They are thus: 4: LNER Thompson Teak Coaches, one corridor and one brake 3: LMS Mk.1s, Second Open Composite and Second Open Brake 2: BR Blue & Grey Mk. 1s, same as above 1: Chocolate & Cream Mk. 1s, same as above (my favourite Mk. 1s of all) I'm thinking of replacing the LMS pair with a pair of West Coast Railways Coaches, so my Black 5 and Leander can recreate The Jacobite train. The only thing that's missing on that part is the Jacobite headboard. Then again, the Black 5 isn't the only engine used to haul the special train. Sometimes, an LNER K1 or B1 is used instead. However, the straights on the outside oval of track on my railway just about allow me to squeeze in four coaches. So I can get away with a four-coach passenger train. Chocolate & Cream Mk. 1s will always be my favourites, because I love God's Wonderful Railway so much. I find the livery name Carmine & Cream a bit difficult to say, so I always refer to those Mk. 1 coaches by their nickname of Blood & Custard. Aside from that, as I say, Chocolate & Cream Mk. 1s are my favourite. Who doesn't love the GWR?

It's been downhill ever since the mark 1 stock. The sad thing is that the design could have been updated to provide improve crashworthiness and corrosion resistance, and reduced weight, perhaps extended to make a 9 bay vehicle.

Completely off kilter but is there any chance you will ever do another run of P-Class production?
@HattonsModelRailways4 жыл бұрын
Hi Josh, its certainly something we may consider in the future, although we do currently have a number of P Class models still available: bit.ly/37n2JOu

I love the mk1s i own 7 gwr livery hornby railroad mk1s. They work with any br brunswick green livery loco even if the loco isnt GWR. Although i have a king class and star class loco as to not look weird in having gwr livery coaches and dont have at least one GWR loco Lol😂 Great profile vid.😁

Pity the Mk1 sleepers didnt survive long enough to gain Inter-City executive livery like the GUVs did.
@HattonsModelRailways4 жыл бұрын
I believe asbestos used in the construction was the issue with these vehicles, and they were quickly replaced by the Mk3 sleepers in the 1980s. It certainly is a nice 'what if' to imagine them in the later livery though. Thanks for watching.

Hi Adi, there's no such thing as a silly question :-) And yes, the coaches used in the "Harry Potter" films are indeed Mark 1 coaches. We have models of them available now should you wish to add them to your collection: bit.ly/3dMTvfC
