That is true, but you also have to take consideration that these individuals all are probably highly aware that they likely will have to sacrifice their own lives for the safety of the president. Now whether or not something like this actually happens, heaven forbid. I’m sure that something like this would be entirely likely. However, one thing that I totally forgot to mention when I originally commented on this video was, if I recall correctly, there are usually keyword usually a couple of other helicopters that always fly with the I guess you could say designated helicopter.

Now I’m not going to sit here and claim that I’m an expert in this regard because well I’m not. But in a documentary that I saw many years ago, one of the few things that they were able to talk about concerning marine 1 was that if they were to come under attack like this, essentially the pilots are trained to fly extremely low to the ground and extremely fast. This way enemy targeters cannot get a quick enough glance to log onto their aircraft. Not only that, but they allegedly also have, equipped on the aircraft assigned from normal counter measures such as chaff and flares. Allegedly it also has more advanced counter measures such as infrared scramblers, and such. Obviously the full capabilities of these helicopters are highly classified.

I would agree. All the stinger firers were on rooftops. It would have made sense to fly close to the deck in between buildings. Of course it is just a movie, lol.

They were flying low. Any lower likely would be a crash. Not only do they have to avoid touching anything but deal with the force of the air. Flying low and fast is an extreme skill and very risky (open ground) doing it in an urban environment is likely impossible

I think the greatest issue with this sequence is the fact that they didn't divert arfter the first missle or at least the second as it is then quite clear that the route to heathrow is being watched. They are in an aircraft with has a normal declared combat range of 320 miles so it would not be difficult to divert around a direct run to heathrow or even head for another airbase such as raf mildenhall to the north east and simply have AF1 reposition.

This scene is kind of conflicting after you watched the whole movie. Do they want to capture the president alive for execution show later on or not? If it was ok for them to kill the president now by shooting down helicopters, they could have just immediately kill him without any delay when they captured him in the latter part of movie.

Not really, originally wanted to kill him, it was only after Mike tortured/killed the guy in charges brother while over the radio so he could hear it that they wanted to capture him alive. Before, they just wanted to kill him mainly but after, they decided to make the president and the world suffer as punishment for that

Stinger missiles are IR guided. They don't emit anything to "paint" their target. They simply "see" and follow their target to intercept.

Another thing that hasn't been brought up in most comment sections of this scene, but would probably happen in real life, the military and/or secret service would have to respond to the crash sites of each of those helos to collect classified technology and secure the crash site. They do it when military jets crash.

@@Elitrian High Security Tech that is 100% not able to be found on other Military vehicles? You must be kidding, the most classified thing about the helicopter are some frequencies its on. None of its defence systems are anything rare and can be found on a couple dozen thousand military aircraft and the US isnt the only one to have such systems either. Give it a really deep thought and come up with atleast ONE security measure that I couldnt find on anything else, that makes this helicopter so rare and more important than a stealth fighter with a supercomputer.

I mean this film was at a high budget with I’m guessing was filmed partial in London and Partial in Bulgaria. London is highly expensive to film there. Also the SFX was done by Worldwide FX.

@jasonchao343 In theory yes, modern variants can reacquire targets but that also depends how much fuel the missile has. Since most AA missiles do initial launch and burn then guided glide, it really depends on how fast can it track and turn back or the fuel not being used up.
