I mean yes, but there are other factors at play here, Gerald Butler's character is more trained than a cop. The adrenaline from fighting also causes people who have not trained under extreme circumstances to lose control due to rapid heart rate and stress, however it improves pain tolerance and alertness, which is why Gerald could pinpoint who the imposters were before they could get a shot off on him. But in the end, its just a movie "dingleberry".
