Road to Vostok's move to Godot is huge. A realistic fps should quell alot of the doubts people have about the engine's 3d capabilities; the Godot prototype already looks very good. This and Brackeys... unity is doing a huge favor to open-source adoption.

Game Number #3 looks AWESOME The thing with 3D games is not that people think they are better, but they want to see what godot is capable of doing in 3D to see if any of their ideas for 3D games would be possible with Godot

@@SpaceManRD Of course the number of dimensions has nothing to do with how good a game is. A game can have the simplest artstyle and still be fun as hell. I myself have played some 2D games that are one of my favorite but in general I and many others tend to enjoy 3D games more. I think because we live in a 3D world ourselves 3D games do a much better job of being immersive to players. However that's not to say that there are some people who prefer 2D games over 3D. For those people it's just a matter of preference, maybe it makes them notalgic, maybe they like the simplicity etc. But you can't deny the fact that overwhelming majority of people play 3D games more and that makes 3D objectively better.

What I like in Godot is the option for realtime global illumination. It really makes procedural content much better looking, where you cant just prebake GI, and keeps the install size smaller.

While he did have excellent tutorials, I always thought Brackeys sort of embraced being an unconditional "propaganda boy" for Unity at this point... Couldn't exactly blame him for that, but well... Now seeing he goe out of his way, while in 'retirement', just to publicly speak against the company he pretty much built his career with... That's something I can def respect 200%. And would love to see him bring out some Godot content, even if it's just basic/beginner stuff.

The one thing that surprised me the most was how good my models looked imported straight in from Blender. I did have issues with the rig at first but it's always a matter of trial and error until something works. Can't wait for Brackey's content, the scripting is still a bit of a challenge for me.

If I'm not mistaken they worked on how importing from Blender to Godot worked, as they were working on Godot 4. So it's a lot better than it used to be.

Yeah that's the thing Godot can do 3D RTX even it's just few games use it for that... How I'm using it for Doom/Paper animations and it can do it faster and easier then unity even... it's just the matter of more game devs using it for 3D games.

ngl when he posted the announcement on his discord and i read the last line where he said "All i can say is, i have started learning Godot" i legitimately jumped out of my seat in excitement I pray that he returns and makes Godot tutorials, I believe that if Brackeys starts doing tutorials for Godot, many other game devs will follow suit and try to make Godot a more accessible engine (even i have started doing a tutorial for switching from Unity to Godot since i had switched a year ago when the whole IronSource merger happened) (oh also, more godot games that are very well made and could inspire other devs are Dome Keeper and Your Only Move Is Hustle, both very popular games on steam that are incredibly polished) (and Your Only Move Is Hustle is also made by one person)

Brackets had good tutorials in a way, I don't feel like he taught good code practices often, however he made getting into game development a lot easier for people. If he comes back to do godot videos, thats just a bonus to all new developers(and even some who don't know how to use the godot engine after using unity.. like I had trouble initially)
