Would love an updated version of this video. Maybe if you've changed anything about it, some closeups, anything that people should keep in mind when using this technique, etc. It's been very helpful!

Very cool, Brad, and thanks. Your time here at Miami University was very beneficial to the whole gang. It was great to have you here.

Although this is a warm-up, I've been trying my own version of this, and it seems to help me with my range, making our G sitting on the top of the staff "home base" for me. Granted, I don't have Brad's range in any form or fashion, meaning, I don't think I can even buzz as high as he can. At any rate, thanks for the tip Brad. This makes the daily practice more efficient, so you can get onto working on music you need to prepare or learn.

It's not a range development exercise! It's a test of embouchure firmness, for people who believe one should play with a very firm, active embouchure formation. Thanks for your interest! BG

Nice video! What is the name of the company that produces the cutaway mouthpiece that you use?

Fascinating! Speaking of Roy Eldridge: I heard a radio show in NYC where Phil Shaap was talkin about getting a lesson from Roy. Roy said to think like the bottom half of the mouthpiece was actually the bottom quarter and to play in the middle of that bottom quarter. Crazy but cool. Just like this video!

The mouthpiece is a Bach 10 1/12c, cut and replated by a man named Lynn Asper.

Thanks for the video. I'm a little doubtful, though; sounds like it's really an exercise for an advanced player with a strong "lead trumpet" upper register, and that ain't me. Not sure it would be helpful unless you're already a screamer.
