True story. I never realized how talented Brad Paisley was on the guitar when I was young and into country. It wasn't until I got into thrash metal and classical guitar that I became addicted to this man. He really is the Van Halen of country music,

Paul threw everything at him , even unloading some classical piano lines. He tried to hurt him LOL. But Brad didn't even flinch. That time, it was his show, his band. He wasn't gonna get outdone. These instrumental country duels are like living and breathing for Brad. He was just having fun. He walks into that duel with a smile. Scary talent. They put his name to the test and they got slaughtered.

Now this is country music. Good guitar riffs, good two step tempo. Country beat with a steel guitar. Not like this crappy semi-pop music with a contemporary Christian heavy drum beat that permeates the radio. Glad someone is still playing country music the way it used to be played.

When you get really good....I mean REALLY REALLY good, you learn how to make substitutions for substitutions and syncopate your syncopations. Musically it can be off-the-charts brilliant, but I admit that, to the untrained ear, it can sound like a piano falling down the stairs.

Lyrics: I filled up two shopping carts late last night The one was full of fishing gear, the other Miller Lite The checkout lady laughed and said 'You think you got enough' And I said 'Yeah, You're probably right', and filled another two carts up Gonna catch all the fish Gonna drink all the beer Gonna head outta town We're not staying here Might take all-day Might take all year Till we catch all the fish Till we drink all the beer So I picked up the boys at dawn and we were on our way It hadn't been ten minutes before Jimmy's cell phone rang His old lady asked him how we'd be on the lake And I said You tell her 'We're staying here however long it takes' Gonna catch all the fish Gonna drink all the beer Better warn her now Better make it clear Might take all-day Might take all year Till we catch all the fish Till we drink all the beer Just as long as there's a can left in that cooler Just as long as there's a bass left in that lake That just means we still got some work to do here Just as long as there's still gas left in that tank As long as there's a can left in that cooler As long as there's a bass left in that lake That just means that we still got some work to do here As long as there's still gas left in that tank Well, we caught all the fish And we drank all the beer And we ran outta gas Now we're stuck out here With lots of empty cans And worthless fishing gear Cause we drank all the fish And we caught all the beer Well, I mean we caught all the fish And drank all the beer

@steadiguy I am a professional musician, so I hear what you're saying about grace. But Paul was clearly outshined on that stage. He sounded very out of his element playing that stuff. Though, you couldn't tell until he took his solos and traded riffs with Brad. If he just stuck to comping, he would have been okay.

Could be - good point there. But I can't ignore that Paul has hit the sauce a little too heavily here. Chord progressions are his strong point, and his mind wasn't fast enough to keep up so he just ended up banging on things.
