Brad Paisley has single handedly made me a country fan, I got into him long ago and he’s helped me appreciate country music, he’s absolutely my favorite country artist and one of my all time favorite guitar players, among guys like EVH, SRV, Satriani, Vai, Eric Johnson, Guthrie Govan, Brad is right up there with those guys in my opinion, cause he can also sing and write catchy songs. He’s also turned me on to guys like Chet Atkins, Vince Gill, Mark Knopfler, etc. Just great guys and players and he’s one of the best of them all. 👍🏽

There’s lot of great country players. People forget about the legendary Jerry Reed too! He wrote more than Eastbound and Down! Killer guitar player. I’ve been playing rock guitar for over 20 years and just recently started learning these more country licks and I feel like a beginner all over. Such a foreign way to play but, definitely adds to your tool belt!

He does play Strats, but he only plays a Strat on songs like "She's Everything" and "I Can't Change the World". Either than that, he's only recorded his songs (his singles especially) on his Fender Teles, and he's performed live with his Fender Teles and Bill Crook T-style guitars.

If anyone seriously thinks that Brad Paisley wrote a song that glorifies "domestic violence against men", you should reevaluate your understanding of those words. I found the song funny and charming, in its own quirky way. Most country musicians write about the sadness of a breakup, but Brad Paisley decided to write a song that serves to inspire men to get back up on the horse and keep riding. All he did was put the idea of striking out on a date in the context of a rodeo, in which riders get thrown in the dirt all the time. Guys experience this all the time, albeit not in the most literal sense, but if you stay in the dirt, you'll get trampled and you'll never find the woman who's meant for you!

That's how I've been playing thru my Bassman from day one. No 'verb, just a boss DD5. I do use compression though. I try to get my tone somewhere between the throaty percussiveness of Brad's, and the sponginess of Vince Gill's. Not too bright, and lots of mid. It isn't terribly easy to get with with 4x10s, but I can get it in the general neighborhood.

I so remember that Desert Band show at the Wheeling Jamboree at the Capitol. He was using a Vox AC30 or maybe two I believe. He ( John Jorgenson ) came into the stagehand room and wanted to use the phone. 88 was before the cell phone. He was flying back to LA in a few days and was trying to find some one to meet him at the airport and help him with his gear. I was so happy to meet him. Certainly one of the best shows at the theatre to me. I was so lucky to see all of those shows right from the stage and even be part of them.

He talks about and demonstrated his fondness for a short delay but what goes unsaid is how that thickens his tone with a lot of these amps. Many don't sport effects loops and he's running the delay in front of what are amps that are already breaking up either on the power amp side or those with some added preamp gain. The result is a breakup of the delay signal too which is really fun to play with and really lends itself to great vintage tone. In the early days of rock and roll there were outboard delay and reverb units being developed for live performance which would also sit in front of many amps giving us the nostalgic and immediately noticeable slightly distorted delay or reverb.

I have a stock 1966 tele with a maple cap neck. There's certainly a noticeable difference. String tension is higher, the neck is stiffer, and the tone is somewhere in between a 1-piece maple neck and a rosewood board with a more aggressive attack. I personally prefer the 1-piece maple as it's spongy in comparison, easier to play, and slightly more expressive as it's easier to use the neck for vibrato, but maple cap may be a great option for the rosewood board player who doesn't vibe with a 1-piece maple neck.

You're a good guy, unlike some in this world. Oh btw I picked up one of those 68 tele's in Provo Utah in 1972.
