A source tells ET, Brad Pitt finds his and ex Angelina Jolie's daughter Shiloh's request to drop his last name 'upsetting' and hopes to 'repair' his relationships with all his kids. Actually they had a lot of great years and were ok until they got married which they did for the kids. What happened after only had they know but in any relationship it takes two to make it and two to break it. Hopefully they’ll work through it and find a basis to keep their relationships without bitterness and anger. My cousins didn't speak to my uncle for four straight years after his divorce - the entire time they were living with my aunt (their mom)- because she had been feeding them lies about my uncle. He lost four years with his kids never speaking to him. After the truth came out, years later, they were heartbroken that they had missed out on those crucial years where they needed their dad too. I'm not saying Angie is feeding her kids lies or anything, but we shouldn't make assumptions about these sorts of situations. There is a lot we do not know, and never will. And we shouldn't assume that kids will somehow "find out" some kind of "truth". Children need both of their parents. Period. Unless Brad was beating/abusing his wife and children, I don't see how total alienation is warranted, and I would think the same thing if the situation were reversed, and Angie was the one being alienated from her kids. Hopefully this family reaches some level of reconciliation, for the sake of those kids, who will all be adults soon.

It's a situation that's all too familiar though. And concerning a woman who has influenced her kids from a young age, and has a reputation to be as manipulative as she needs to be to get what she wants. Her behavior with engaged and married men to keep them from returning to their loved ones and to only stay with her should be enough understanding on why people have the opinions they do on this particular subject with the people involved. It´s pretty clear cut for me, he was investigated by CPS and the FBI, who not only didn´t press charges but he was awarded joint custody and then Angelina used a technicality to have the judge disqualified, she is hell-bent on not letting the children have a relationship with their father. That same judge had warned her that if she continued interfering with their relationship by not providing him with the children´s phone number, calling them multiple times while they were with him or if she kept supervising Brad´s text messages with his children that she could lose custody time and Brad could had been awarded primarily custody. The level of parental alienation that we are witnessing is insane, but onlookers that don´t seem to know what´s really happening are partaking in this very public character assesination.

She also always had the upper hand with time to bad mouth Brad to the children, since she alleged abuse they had to investigate so at first he was separated from the children for 3 weeks, then he had a few hours a week to see them, and only after 5 years the custody trial reached a resolution in which he was awarded joint custody. Of course Angelina didn´t like that so she had the judge disqualified on a technicality (he failed to disclose unrelated cases he was working on with Brad´s lawyers) and the whole thing went back to their previous agreement. So in total she had 8 years to be the only voice their children could hear.

To be honest we never know what’s going on but I find it interesting that this divorce is going on this long. You can bad mouth him but it’s not her first marriage either & I think she has to be the one in control of everything & not innocent at all, having issues with her own father. And how Jolie told her own bodyguard not to let the kids spend too much time with Brad when he did get at least some visitation time. Or how her own mom turned her away from her own dad enough for her to change her last name to just her mom's maiden one. Jolie even lawyers up to keep other celebrities from speaking out about how they've seen her do things like everything in her power to take other women's men for herself. Just look at what happened to Melissa Etheridge, who was told to stop telling people what she's seen with Jolie being so negative with people, before Jolie threatened to sue her if she didn't keep her mouth shut about everything. We may not know for sure what this family has gone through behind the scenes, but most of what is known spells out that Jolie has needed some counseling for years for her unhealthy socially manipulative actions, and is just bad news. My own dad had someone like her in his life, before finally just letting her go. And at least Brad has gotten help to treat the drinking problem he had after it all.

Children naturally love their parents. If they don’t, and especially if they detach from a parent at an older age, you better bet that parent has done something to make the child detach and lose respect for them. No matter how bad my husband’s ex-wife spoke badly about him to his kids, his children always wanted to see him and always loved him. Families go through rough times and hopefully they won’t hold onto the hurt and anger but instead forgive and try to help each other understand and grow from it. It’s an opportunity for all of them but only if they choose to go use it that way. Too many people get hurt and instead of trying to let go of pain etc they hold onto it and they won’t move past it into new place. It’s the one thing we can choose and up to each of us which path we go down from there. I hope they all find peace and the love they had for each other. Well it must be really sad and traumatic to have an abusive dad and then your husband repeat the same.
