It was without a doubt the most suspect and one sided quarter of umpiring you’ll see. When all the commentators can’t believe it, including Cameron Ling, you know it’s bad. It ruined what was likely to be a close contest all the way. Nothing worse than being cheated in a tight wet slug.

3rd quarter was the worse umpiring I've ever seen. Geelong would of most likely gone on to win but it would of been a great last quarter.

I’ve lost interest in the game due to the inept & pontificating umpires. To quote Sam Newman circa 15 years ago, they have hijacked the game & they are having an impact on the result of the game.

Pointing out the umpires were objectively crap and the afl needs to fix it isnt blaming them for the loss. Its just pointing out the afl isnt doing their job properly, players get dropped for not performing whilst umpires get treated like babies that cant do any wrong. Laura Kane is an absolute joke

Somebody had bets on last nights game, there's no way that was legit. After an hour of play and a margin that hasn't gone outside 1-19 points suddenly umpiring causes one team to become 24 points ahead. I turned off and have refused to watch any football since. ALSO you know next weeks match is fixed as well. You think the AFL are going to let the commercial opportunity of 100k finals every week at the G for Collingwood just pass? No, no, no. Next week will be the 'Make sure the pies get the double chance operation' as was the case against North. MASSIVE betting scandal incoming, someone had A LOT of money on Adelaide not making the 8 last year.

Facts are Facts the UMPIRES decided that 3rd qtr which did cost at our chance of a win regardless as iv said many times the cats are a great team never rite them off but im dissapointed when umpires make error after error after error continuesly for a long stretch in a game one or 2 u get over it and continue but when its constant for a period of time which in footi is a long time,umpires deciding the outcome is not acceptable in the inviroment of our modern game,FFSAKE

That game last night was exactly like the Freo game last season, a shocking display against a completely out of form team, confirming why we are missing finals again in 2024. Absolutely putrid performamce, & unless im horribly wrong & things turn around quickly, we are in for a world of pain in the next few weeks

Stop blaming umpires !!! There is no match fixing We went inside 50 60 times with a return of 9 goals 6 .. thats 25% return .. thats why we lost .. Essendon has been crap for the last month and lost a lot of spark .. if we dont fix our movement into the foward line then we wont make the top 8

Not claiming match fixing. Just woefully bad umpiring which took the dons right out of the contest. The third qtr was a disgrace. Hands down the worst umpiring I ever seen. Never once have I blamed a loss on poor umpiring. This was next level and then some.

We ain't making the top 8 this year again, last night proved that. If we play 3 blokes over 2m again, don't even bother watching, it's game over. If blokes like Menzie, Lav & Hepp keep getting games, don't worry about finals, just hope we can actually be competitive

It's pretty much as bad as the Serie A was years ago, but when they manipulate drug testing & things like that to suit their narrative, league headquarters do what they want without any consequences

We can all sit here and comment on the coach but bomber fans need to remember we’re still rebuilding. We weren’t even meant to be this high on the ladder this deep in the season yet here we are still in the top 8. The coach knows we have many games left many more opportunities to win. And realistically just as big opponents coming up. Bring your expectations down and you won’t feel as bad

It was clearly umpiring that change the entire game lol. Everyone watching knew it, the commentators knew it, Daisy Thomas borderline stated they were cheating in the commentary. Essendon should’ve had the lead which then wasn’t paid and became a Geelong goal 10secs later. Instant 12pt swing, Bowes holding the ball spilled out, wasn’t paid, ended up a Geelong goal. 18pt swing, the Tom Stewart holding the ball, spilled out, was picked up by Dangerfield, who dropped the ball clearly as well 3 seconds later, wasn’t paid again, another Geelong goal. 24pt swing. Dangerfield a clear throw over his head one hand, not paid, Geelong ran into goal. 30pts of assistance. Jye Menzie being penalised for rushing a behind that NO team has been called for, that every player knew, inside the goalsquare opponent isn’t a deliberate, that the FIRST rule in the deliberate rushed behind rule states “outside nine metres from the goal line”, should NOT have been paid. 35pt swing. So instead of the Bombers being 21 down at 3/4 times, they could’ve been 14pts up, also, that doesn’t even factor in that Bowes, Stewart free kicks were around scoring range also. So yes, the umpires changed the result.

Which kids? He’s totally reshaped our midfield and continues to play Perkins despite patchy form. Has played Caddy this year. Persists with Cox and Jones. Played Davey until no longer justifiable on form. Tsatas has had opportunities but clearly isn’t at the level. If you’re going to make an accusation like this, you’re obligated to specifically identify who you say should be played in place of the players you say aren’t up to it.
