I recorded these years ago off of NPR onto cassettes. Listened to them all through college while I was studying. Later found better recordings on cassette and bought them. Through the years they have all been lost or misplaced. I have been delighted to see them here on KZbin and I still enjoy them after all these years. Thank you so much for posting these.

Jim Busch: Any chance you got your cassettes in or around Nashville, TN? We were on vacation there in 1994 when our car was broken into. The thieves stole a bunch of stuff which included our copy of Bradbury 13. They were in this plastic binder/book. Each cassette popped into a raised plastic, cassette shaped cutout. I missed those cassettes until I found Bradbury 13 on KZbin.

Thanks for your comment. I wish I had recorded them back then, it's been a long wait to find these shows again.

I absolutely love the portrayal this woman gives. I've also seen the Ray Bradbury Theater version of the story, which has its own charms, but ultimately can't measure up to this masterful production.

I wish that as well. His voice will live on as long as his stories live on, as long as Farenheit 451 never becomes a reality.

Funny because this reminds me of my grandma Hilda. Very stubborn woman. :)

This is my Grandmother Ruth Hale portraying the old woman. She won a Peabody Award for this performance.

Up until now, Night Call Collect was my favorite of these. That has changed. Now, Night Call Collect and There Was an Old Woman share the #1 spot as favorite. I don't remember grinning so much as they were hurrying on down to the morgue. That was an awesome little scene. And most importantly, this one had a happy ending.

You like stories about old hermits having imaginary conversations, heh?

Thank you for posting these. I had them all on cassette tape a long time ago. Recorded the old fashion way, with the recorder in front of the speaker.
