Brad, I have been watching your videos and have enjoyed every one of them. I am waiting for my arrival of the ETaker M2000 and the F1000 to review and after watching your videos I think it will be very good unit to have for RV/Off grid life style. Great work on all your videos and await many more.

This is perfect for making your own auxiliary battery pack for your solar generator instead of buying the solar generator added battery pack. I have an anchor 767 and also have 3 100ah power queen minis. I will get one of these and wire the minis in parallel for 300ah (in a tool box or storage container) of auxiliary battery power. My 767 will take the solar input of 500 watts no problem. I like this concept compared to the cheap step up converters on Amazon. This is basically a step up converter with a fan and 2 ways to input. Thanks for the review Brad I appreciate it

Hi Brad! 73's from 249 CTX (Austin, TX). I have a similar charger for my DC UPS I put together. I use it for my CB radio base station. I got an Eco-Worthy, 20 amp, DC to DC charger, that's meant to be used with an RV leisure battery and vehicle's batt/alt. It has solar input also, but doesn't handle as high of a Volt/Amp load to it's MPPT charge controller. But, it stops pulling off of start battery when it drops under 12.4V. And, upon sun up and solar, it will also charge the start battery from 2+ to 12.3V. So, when 0.00V from start battery, it will not back charge vehicle. Thus the reason I use it to charge my 50A Li battery that I power DC components off of it. But, I supplemented start batt/alt pwr with a AC to DC 12-15V pwr supply. When grid goes down, it's running off of battery, but I can plug in portable PV panel to keep battery topped off, so I can keep radio coms up. I also use a 25A, 8-40V in - to boost/buck 13.8V steady converter, from battery to my radios, as they don't like being over or under volted. I definitely under-utilize the specs of the charger, but when it charges from pwr supply, when battery is low, it gets hot (has NO fan), so I built on a remnant heatsink, with thermal switch for fan into it's box enclosure I made. Some of these Eco-Worthy products are over rated, and when they are pushed close to their specs, they need a little help. But, with a little ingenuity, the price is affordable. I wouldn't use their AC inverters though.. unless you only utilize up to 1/2, or less, of their specs. But, some of their other components are OK: batteries, solar trickle chargers, PV panels, ground mounts.. then, ok.. But, for my purpose, their DC to DC RV charger works great!

Definitely quieter than the one from Pecron. Also costs more but that is okay. Seems slightly better, I am guessing the Etaker power station can take more than 15 to 20 amps on the charger since it provides up to 25 amps. Seems like it should work with any power station that has what looks like xt90 solar inputs. I do not remember you saying what size the connector is, but I can go back and find out.
@BradCagle4 ай бұрын
The solar connectors are xt60 so I would think it works fine with many different power stations. Yeah I think the Etaker power station can handle 20amps or more. Thanks

Thanks for the video. Is there any chance to test again solar + alternator charging at the same time. Looks there may have some bugs in the design or handling of concurrent charging

This is awesome, people don’t even need a gas generator anymore to charge solar generator

Please kindly check for the efficiency. That is an information you shouldn’t miss. Like how much power is lost when it moves power from the 12v battery to the power station

Can the unit provide power out if connected to only solar and/or if the car input has no voltage in? Basically the unit needs to be able to provide solar power out when the car is parked and turned off or else it's pretty useless to me. The whole point of these types of units should be that they provide power from whichever source is available. There is no mention of how this works in the owner's manual, in fact one reason I'm hesitant to purchase this is because the documentation is very light on tech specs.
@BradCagle4 ай бұрын
@@gofastdan Good question. I'll try to check that soon
@gofastdan4 ай бұрын
@@BradCagle Thanks! Maybe a more elegant way of saying it is that the unit should provide passthrough power from the solar input even when it's turned off.

A little update. I contacted ETaker and asked about the passthrough mode and they assured me that it will pass solar voltage even if the vehicle is turned off. Based on that info I went ahead and bought one and installed it in my truck yesterday. It works! With the truck powered off I get ~120 watts of solar charging, which is what I expect, and then with the truck running I get ~420 watts (with the ETaker set to 300w). I'm happy with the performance so far. BTW, I'm using this with an Ecoflow Delta 2 which only has one DC charging input, thus the need for this unit. My only gripe is that I'm not sure I trust the triggers ETaker is using to power the unit on and off. I'd much rather have an external input triggered by the ignition to power the unit on. I thought about connecting a relay inline with the power switch, and might still do that, but it appears the power switch is soldered directly to the motherboard so that makes it more difficult to hack...

Agree. My wish list is something like the Pecron and Etaker combined; I'd like a minimum voltage and a 12v trigger wire like the Pecron while having the dual XT60 plugs with the Etaker with passthrough solar while the vehicle is off. Thanks for the update.

Would be cool if you could step up solar input by itself.
