So, the BMS did not protect the battery? One cell failed due to low voltage disconnect? That is not good!!!
@BradCagle6 ай бұрын
@@tsp2jxd It did protect the battery.

I had learned after charging up each battery, ... then you connect them all in parallel ... no load ... and let them sit for a day or two. This actually equalizes al four (in this case) to have the same voltages. THEN you make them up into series or series parallel... just sayin and I hope this helps.

I have 2 of the full size 100ah ones from DJLBERMPW. Been running them daily for the past 6 months without issue. Would love the mini's but they were not out at the time i bought them. Got em for $166/ea which is a steal deal IMO.

Thanks Brad. 48V is the way to go for me. It looks like you need to have some kind of balancing going on between the batteries to run them in series like that?

Yeah, I've seen the balancers for this kind of series setup. I'm tempted to put these in service to determine how long they will work before going out of balance. If it's not very frequent you could easily top each off with a simple 12v charger. Thanks Ben!

I noticed this brand of 50ah battery drops to 13.2v under load after charged. But it holds at 13.2v for a long time with about a 250 watt load. The 50ah lifepo4 battery from this company does 100ah load for a short period. Not a good idea to drain more than 50ah at a time under load with a 50ah battery. Seems to be a good battery with a good bms. However a 100ah battery will do a 100ah load drain safely. Will do a little more under power surge. Good Lifepo4 batteries.

Nice ill get one once my normal size 12v goes 😂 its heavy has like them round cells inside about maybe 30+ of it and its like 25 pounds.. when im done charging it from dead flat shut off it only gives me 92ah, before its was 95ah when new but i had it for like 2 years now kinda abuse it dead shut off flat couple times still going so its going to take me maybe 8+ more years to get my battery to a way lower capacity that ill need a new one 😂 but for 180 bucks for a mini is really tempting 😂 if they get that to 150$ it would be nice and then they can offer ones for 200$ with some fancy warmers and Bluetooth.. love the vids.. adding this to my cart 😅

The shunt said it would run for over 11hours at 450-475w. I started the test early morning maybe around 8am, and it ended after 4pm I thing. So around 8 hours.

So, the BMS did not protect the battery? One cell hit low voltage diaconnect? That is not good!!!!
@BradCagle7 ай бұрын
Yes the BMS did protect the battery. That's what it is supposed to do. Low voltage cell will cause the BMS to disconnect, that's perfectly normal.
@tsp2jxd7 ай бұрын
@@BradCagle the normal practice is to set the BMS to fire BEFORE THE BATTERY to avoid exactly that situation. So, yes it protected the battery but the BMS should do that. It's not technically wrong but not best practice if possible to avoid it. Carry on good sir!
@BradCagle7 ай бұрын
@@tsp2jxd The BMS worked as it should. I think you're referring to the practice of shutting off the load before your BMS goes into a protection mode? Which I do agree. However this was a test so I actually wanted to hit BMS protection to make sure it works on these batteries. Thanks!

This is a real world scenario. What are you running off of a relatively small 5kWh bank where you're going to draw 0.2C? That's a kW continuous.

@@otm646 .2C on a 100ah battery is 20 amps that's the industry standard for deep cycle batteries. Discharged in a 5 hr time. Stress a battery to find it's true potential.
