Just got home from there. Was a good game to watch. There keeper kept it a reasonable score. We were by far the better attacking team. And the ref was shocking. These lgue 2 refs need re training. Down to Walsall nxt

1:15 Tbf as long as it is done in a disciplined (eg smart way) especially at this level, it’s as much a part of the game being intimidating and has been an important “tactic” for many years. But the important part is staying disciplined eg don’t do stupid stuff that will get you sent off and mean you’re suspended for matches. In our Premier League days we had quite a few of those sorts of players who if you tried to showboat in front of them would make sure you left in an ambulance, just off of the top of my head Jamie Lawrence, Dean Windass, Stuart McCall, even Wayne Jacobs & Dean Saunders to a certain extent. And that mentality of scaring the shit out of the opposition was probably a big part of what kept us up. But it has to be done right. The trick is to act like a complete psycho but not lose your head, the idea is for the opposition to lose theirs either by shying away from you, or watching the hot headed players lose it and get sent off. But you need the right sorts of players who understand how it works. Funnily enough Wimbledon were probably a good example back in the day, and I suspect Robinson is trying to cultivate some of that spirit into his team. But I’m not convinced an Elliot Watt is the type of player to be much good at it, I don’t know about the rest of the team. We had a bit of that type of mentality under Parky with Gary Jones, Andrew Davies, Rory McArdle and even Nathan Doyle and probably you could count James Hanson among them. All would make sure they were leaving a bit on the opposition and winding them up. It’s actually something City have badly lacked in recent years. But again, I do have to point out that it needs to be done in the right way. So maybe when Robinson gets rid of the players not cut out for it because they’re either too nice on the pitch or too hot headed and stupid, Salford will begin to see the benefits of what Robinson might be trying to create. But it takes players who either have a very cool head and understand the psychology, or the cold as ice genuine psychopath to pull it off (City in the Prem had at least one of the latter, and I’m sure if you ask former players who I’m talking about they’ll probably all name the same player 😂).

Yeah great point something we have had in previous years and can wind up the opposition something that you only appreciate if it's your team wouldve wanted robinson tbf as city manager as its probably the city way GA similar can get us towards that but with the right balance.
