Bradford Knives Guardian 4 Review: Epic Utility

Thankfully, this knife is now offered in M390 "super steel", and with 3D carbon fiber scales if you prefer. Just bought mine (after extensive preliminary research), and it's spectacular in every way. I can't express how happy I am with it. I can promise you, it will be by my side anytime I'm away from the city, engaged in some "bushcrafting" fun!

Being a city slicker, I only own folding knives, and i use my larger one (Spyderco Resilience) exclusively for my camping needs. If I were to live in the woods, however, I would certainly consider a knife like the one you just showed us. Good review.

Season Greeting's Aaron, beautiful knife, great steel, design, but the price is a bit high, I got a Gerber Freeman, with stag handles, S30V, and a Benchmade #162, G-10 handles in S30V, but both were priced much lower, I was ready to order the Gaurdian4, until I saw the price, I think I'm going to hold off, I really luv the knife, but I just ordered a Rodent 4, and the Rodent 6, but on the 6, I had the top gaurd taken off, and now it look's like a beefy Ratmandu on steriods, then I ordered a Wicked Tree Gear Tough Folding Hand Saw, please do a review on the Wicked Tough Folding Saw, you can lite chop with it, thats how tough it is with an outstanding warrenty, and it cut's in both directions, and a 2Hawks Trapper Double Bit Hatchet, so I'm going to have to hold off, and maybe it will come down in price on some kind of a special, it is the kind of knife I like, saber grind, choil, man, but it is pricey for that size knife.

Great video, considering purchasing one. Been looking at website and pictures and slightly confused with blade finish options. Different lighting in photos doesn't help. From official site I see they have a Black, Nimbus, Stonewash and Satin. I really like the finish on your which seems to be a flat grey but that doesn't seem to be any of the finishes I've just mentioned. Could you let me know what finish your knife is. Thanks in advance

Aaron, am I going to buy every fixed blade knife you recommend? Your vids are great as always, so yes, in short time, I will get this one! I like visible full tang fixed blades better than folders bc I know 'within normal limits' hard use won't usually hurt 'em! You are who opened the door for ESEE to me & man, I appreciate it! gideonstactical Which version do you recommend over the other, the false edge or sabre grind and why? I like the looks of teh false edge over the sabre gring however if I'm going to do some chopping perhaps sabre is better?

***** Well, I would say you will not be able do much chopping at all with the 6.2oz weight. The fasle edge model would be good for tactical/stabbing use. If this is going to be used in the wood go with the sabre grind, no false edge.

Yes. You also get one for free if you buy replacement handle scales on the bradfordknives(.com) website.

They should have used a common slotted or phillips screw or an allen or torx. Trying to be different makes ones life miserable if you need to tighten your handles and don't have the correct tool.

now i want one :D btw are there any waterstones u recommend? i really enjoy reprofiling knives atm. that being said the diamond stones really dont do the job for me... they arent durable enough. the dc5 fallkniven stone (diamond side) gave up just on sharpening 2 of my lager bolos... that was very, very disappointing. i am looking for some pretty coarse stones that will last a while.

awesome review and what a nice knife at 200+ is it a little expensive however it is high quality. I have had no experience with s30v I read its a great stainless steel, can you or anyone else tell me how difficult is it to sharpen, I'm a bit old fashion and use whetstones for all my sharpening any problems there??? thanks in advance and thank you for sharing a great video.

Good review. 1. $200 is too much for me. $100 would be more reasonable. 2. I wish the leather sheath had a snap or velcro closure so you could put it on your belt without having to remove your belt. 3. I wish Bradford gave you the option of either leather or plastic sheath instead of giving you the leather and then charging you more for a plastic. A customer may not want or afford two sheaths. It's a waste of money and resources to own two of something you may only want/need one.

Handle looks uncomfortable, not beveled enough and the texture is too aggressive and not functional enough to warrant the uncomfortability. I own a knife with a very similar handle and often avoid using it because of this.
