Beautiful...where can I get the blow torch? Besides preventing bubbles what else do you use it for? Why and what determines the color of paint you apply before the pour?
@AcrylicPouringAcademy3 жыл бұрын
Thank you June. This is the torch I currently use and recommend. It's affordable, easy to use and found on Amazon. bradsuggests.com/cheap-torch You will have to buy the butane locally, but it's available at Home Depot or Lowes. You can find it in the soldering section. The paint I use for the basecoat is usually Artist Loft Flow Acrylic white or black. I use it because it's affordable and I have a lot of it. I will also use leftover paint as a basecoat. Unless you are trying to create some negative space in your pour the color doesn't really matter because it will all be covered up. It's also a good idea to make sure your base coat is not thicker than your pouring paints. It can create ripples while you are tilting the canvas. An exception to the above would be if you are creating a cloud pour or a pearl pour. The base coat for those techniques usually require satin enamel to be added to the basecoat to create the cloud or pearl effects.

@@AcrylicPouringAcademy im just a beginner so ill probably start with the dirty pour and the tree pour I really like that one. Can you suggest the paint and pouring medium to start with..thank you for the information about the torch I've seen people using it in the videos..like I said I'm a beginner I've never done it, I'm looking for something to help me with the loss of my daughter to breast cancer in October..thank you for your help.your work is amazing...June
@AcrylicPouringAcademy3 жыл бұрын
@@junemedford3296 I'm so very sorry to hear about the loss of your daughter. My heart goes out to you. The dirty pour and tree ring pour are great places to start for beginners. The easiest paints and pouring medium are craft paints and Elmers white glue. I really like the Apple Barrel matte and satin acrylics found at Walmart, (a word of warning about the white. It has a tendency to crack. I've used it without cracking but most people stay away from it. The Craftsmart white found at Michaels is what I recommend as a substitute.) You can also pick up the glue there. The Elmers Glue-All or School Glue both work great. The school glue is cheaper and I use it all the time. Use I part paint to 1 part glue. You can add a few drops of water to thin the paint out a bit if you wish. I suggest getting a value pack of ten 8" x 10" canvases to pour on. You need about 3 oz of paint to cover an 8" x 10" canvas. I like to use 5.5 oz snack cups with lids to mix my paints and 3oz dixie cups to layer my paints. Both can also be found at Walmart. I am currently working on a beginners course using craft paint and glue. I would be happy to give you complimentary access when it's complete if you wish. Just let me know. Feel free to reach out with any other questions. All the best, Brad
