Love this song, but yall are missing out not seeing the video, it is Iconic. The little girl in the bee out fit is tapdancing, everyone is making fun of her. Shannon Hoon had a voice like no one else. The bassist wrote 'No Rain' but Shannon's voice and lyrics made their first album incredible. I had followed them around on tour and was front center for Woodstock '94. The video for the song kinda made them look like hippies but they were not that band at all and hated that the Bee Girl video was all they got asked about as this album was out for 3 years before this video. Check out "Change" or "Mouthful of Cavities".

Shannon Hoon never used autotune, he was just an amazing singer. Blind Melon is one of the best bands ever. I miss them. Listen to the song "Soak the Sin", such a banger. No Rain is beautiful but it's like their most comercial single. Awesome nonetheless.
@s.mcpherson63543 жыл бұрын
Yeah, autotune wasn't invented until five years after this song was released, and it was originally invented for oil exploration, not singing. :-) That said, it was easy to see how it fooled them though. The harmonies warble and shift, and the notes of the song are all complimentary with the notes they're singing, and as the shift happens, it does feel a bit like phase shifting, or auto tune, but it's just their voices and the guitar 'braiding' and 'rebraiding.'

S. McPherson S. McPherson It’s definitely a phaser or light flanger when she points it out (in the quiet breakdown) because there’s no harmony right before she speaks about it. It’s phasing/sweeping in a smooth wave. Overall there are a lot of vocal effects on this track.
