Robbie Krieger wrote this song about his girlfriend who repeatedly threatened to "walk out" on him and when she did, she always slammed the door to make her point. Jim helped write the lyrics, particularly the line about "Seven Horses..." According to Robbie, Jim advised to always throw in a line that was mysterious to the listener. In actuality, the line doesn't mean anything, it just fit the tempo of the song. It has nothing to do with drugs.

Jim Morrison is probably the most enigmatic person in popular culture. He talked about how his family was driving through the Nevada desert with his parents and they saw a car crash. The people died. They were native Americans. His life was never the same

Robby Krieger, the guitarist wrote this song. He said he and his girlfriend would argue often in those days and it would always end by her walking out the door, and her slamming it so hard it would shake the entire house. This is where the line about her walking out the door like 1,000 times before comes from. By the way he married her, and they are still married to this day, over 50 years later.

"Doom carnival in New Orleans" - more accurate than you expected. After The Doors recorded the LA Woman album, they did a short tour and the last place they played was at the Warehouse in New Orleans. Morrison was drunk and despondent, partway through the gig his bandmates said they saw his energy just leave him, and he started smashing the mic stand against the floor of the stage in frustration. That was the last gig that The Doors played with Jim Morrison.

Good observation, because there actually is just a little something different about Jim’s voice on this album, their final studio LP. If you listen closely you can hear that the pitch of Jim’s baritone dropped to its lowest point on that record. So for that release his voice was deeper than it was before.

Among "Road House Blues", "LA Woman", and this...tied for first on favorite Doors song. But i love their entire catalogue even after Morrison passed. Mmm...i think "Love Her as She's Walking Out the Door" is more perverted in nature, but maybe dual meaning. Like he's staring at a particular feature as She's Walking out but knows she'll be back. That's a very misogynistic approach, but I don't mean it's a positive thing, i just think it's a fun song whether it's malevolent or tragic.

Jim was more into taking you on a mind expanding spiritual like journey with the songs and poetry that he wrote like When The Music,s Over or Not To Touch The Earth . I think he tended to get a little bored when he would have to sing some of the shorter type pop songs that Robby Krieger would write. That maybe why he sounds a little different to you. When they wrote together they created absolute MAGIC like Light My Fire. Not to say that Robby,s songs were bad they were very good in fact and usually were Top 10 hits.

@@lastchild6153 it was pretty awesome finding this out. Some times I think what a cruel joke life played on me. It let me end up adopted by the neighbors and never able to meet Jim. Then again I was two when he died. I didn't find out until age 52 that I'm Jims second cousin, once removed. I was a fan by age 12 or 13. The Holladays are my bio maternal side, and the Mattesons are my bio paternal side. The Clark(e)s cross both sides of my family multiple times. So do the Stuarts. I got nobility in most directions of my family lines. Mattesons are said to have originated in Sweden and migrated to Denmark, and after generations migrated to Scotland and then were cleared out in the highland clearancces ot Ulster. My 8th great grandfather Henry Mattesons ancestors were nobles but when he migrated to Rhose Island he wasn't important. Some how he ended up marrying Hannah Parsons from the line Layton of Stuart, and Rohan. Queen Elizabeth and her offspring are cousins to this line so therefor I'm Lilbets cousin through my 8th great gran Hannah. Parts of my lineage look like a whos who of Scotland. The Holladays were Norman Scots, and my branch moved to England like 940 years ago from Dumfries Scotland. Jim is my cousin on my bio paternal side. Doc Holliday is my fourth cousin on moms side. And yes the spelling is different. People kept making spelling variations of Holladay.

It was the Chambers Brothers with The Doors and Steppenwolf on that July 5th at the Hollywood Bowl 54 years ago. Perhaps listen to their song "Time Has Come Today" -- get you some cowbell now! Steppenwolf's "Berry Rides Again" makes for a great pop quiz: identify all the Chuck Berry song references if you can. "The Pusher" is another good choice, written by the same guy who wrote "Joy To The World" (you know, "Jeremiah was a bullfrog...") which Three Dog Night had a big hit with.

Jim Morrison thought of himself as a poet first, a singer second, and a rock star third. He even fled to Paris with his girlfriend to write, and there is where he died.

Jim was bloated and struggling with his addictions when they recorded this album, LA Woman. His voice sounded slightly deeper and gravelly by this stage.

Hi Brad and Lex, is Jim Morrison the original singer in 1971's Love Her Madly? Yes. I feel Jim did improve his voice range and vibrato since 1967's Light My Fire. Great REACTION! Thanks! - Bob

OMG I love Lex!! Girl you're definitely an empath. Jim had done so many drugs and drank so much alcohol in 4 years, he aged like 50 years. 😥 So freakin sad but he lived life hard and full. You can hear all the damage in the LA Woman album, but they were still so amazing and Jim was so hot! ❤

The Chambers Brothers were the 3rd group. "Time has come today." React to this one. Political action during the Vietnam era and psychedelia. Black awareness beyond just James Brown saying I'm Black and I'm proud.

They were the house band at the Whiskey a-Go-Go. This is from the 70s stream. You can't do 70s without Linda Ronatadt. She was "the queen of rock" in the early 70s. She's a 12x Grammy winner, received the Kennedy Center Honors, , and is a member of both the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame and the County Music Hall of Fame.

Visited Jim’s grave in ‘86 at Pere Lachaise cemetery in Paris. Doors cassettes, empty wine bottles. A mess. Revisited last September. Got a good upgrade. In other news, he’s still dead.

Hi Brad and Lex. If you want to imagine watching The Doors, I think the closest you're going to get to that now is 'The Doors Alive' tribute band. Check them out. I saw them in Glasgow and they were amazing. They do tour worldwide and may well come to where you are, especially if there is enough demand. Æx 🙏

I think you would LOVE the song 'The Soft Parade' from the album of the same name. I consider it the first ever prog song, as it weaves through different musical styles, and takes the listener on the sort of journey that still feels fresh. You should deffo delve deeper into their catalogue. (just not the two albums recorded after Jim died, they're atrocious lol).

Some Doors songs were written by guitarist Robbie Krieger, and others are credited as "lyrics by Jim Morrison, music by the Doors." You can definitely tell which is which - Robbie's are very "I love you baby"-type pop songs, whereas Morrison's lyrics are, well, obviously Jim Morrison lyrics. They both had great songs though. Guess which one this is.
