made a shittily edited podcast with my best friend about this show that dropped around the same time last year. Yours is much more well-made, I see the flaws in my designs. This show is fuckin incredible, and it's a tragedy what happened to it. The creators recently pitched a continuation of sorts, Gus and Wally. WB denied it and denied them the rights to use the characters, for no reason. WB will never do anything with this. They're evil. Edit: I posted at the start of the video, i was just excited to see another in depth analysis of mission hill.

We got robbed that this show didn't get more seasons. Bill Oakley and Josh Weinstein working together were one of the best duos in the entire history of tv comedy animation and it's a shame we never got to see more from them with this show. They took everything they learned from The Simpsons and carried it over. They both did work together for the first 4 seasons of Futurama as writers which also explains why the writing was so good in that show as well

I love urban based shows/cartoons. Cartoons like The Critic, The PJ's, Hey Arnold and This Beautiful Show really hold a special place in my heart. Outside of Hey Arnold! I grew up on Cartoon Network/Adult Swim (ALL KIDS OUT OF THE POOL ERA) Shows like ed,edd, eddy were hilarious but seeing characters living in the suburbs wasn't relatable, same with Home Movies. (Coach McGurk is the shit) I really love the commentary on this DVD. The creators were gonna have everyone grow older over the seasons like real people, and continue to have real world/slice of life issues just like most of the stuff present in this show already. I really wish there was more cartoons like what I mentioned above or rather just more Adult Animators willing to take this kind of risk again.

Mission Hill and The Oblongs were absolute best thing on television that happened to me as a confused queer kid. Growing up in conservative family in Russia, suddenly I was blasted with beautiful animations on “2x2” channel that bought licenses to air a lot of old cartoons from Fox, CN and others. Mission Hill actually helped me to understand a lot of things about sexuality, emotions, first love, and Oblongs taught me about consequences of being “the other one”, being alone and dealing with it and realizing that home is where you belong, not where you’re from - and grow into a woman I am now. Thank you for that essay, man, revisiting those memories was really great.

Wonderful video! You really understand what made this show so special! Bad news on the "Gus and Wally" front, however. I went to a live Q&A with Oakley and Weinstein and they confirmed it got turned down because HBO was "looking for something to compete with South Park". If thats not a statement about the state of our entertainment industry, I don't know what is.

Mission Hill is my favorite show of all time. I really hope they come through with the sequel!

This show is my favorite show of all time, and the Plan 9 episode got me into film noir. Every movie that Kevin and wally mentioned I went out to see. It's a shame that there isn't more episodes, but at the same time I think that is one of the things that's makes this show special. A lot of shows continue on well past when they should, and I would have hated to see that happen to this one.

Mission Hill was easily one of my favorite turn of the century shows that fell into obscurity but thankfully Adult Swim was where I watched it - also, dunno what landed me on this channel but I'm diggin' the whole chilled back nature of your channel.

I first watched Mission Hill when I was way too young on Teletoon 😅 I watched it again when I was a little older on Adult Swim and it def was incredible and even now with me in my 30s and having living on my own in a city, now I find the show even more relevant and reliable then ever!

One of my favorite shows ever. I still watch the 13 episodes and always find some new detail. #gusandwally needs to be a thing!!
