Although you would have to whack it extremely fcking hard or to really stomp it into the ground for it to happen, as a technician, I always recommend 90 degrees angled plugs, as well as the ones that you can push the sides to mute or that don't fck speakers up when they get accidentally removed. And also loop through your strap. If you do this I see no problem. It's not actually more fragile than a regular circuit tbh or by perhaps very little
@DBoonful7 ай бұрын
Yep, that is the first thing I thought when seeing that surface mount jack -honestly that would be deal killer for me -that methodology for a 1/4" connection is a damn timebomb waiting to happen -hopefully they could consider floating the jack from the board in the future -I would love to have one of these around -Get my ultra modern Synsonics Ali Farka Toure' on! Anyone going for this pretty awesome guitar should consider using a angle 1/4" to lower some of the risk.

You can tell that they are paying attention to the SMALLEST of details. Especially those LITTLE details that are most often overlooked or just ignored because they are considered irrelevant or inconsequential and it saves like 10¢ for every guitar they make. However, when it comes to a professional level instrument, it’s EVERY tiny detail that adds up to making a truly great instrument. This is why the “cheap” “lawsuit era” Japanese guitars to even the Japanese made Squier guitars are so saught after today. People realized just how much care was put into every detail of the guitars that were produced simply because of the Japanese work ethic. The Japanese still produce instruments that are some of the highest in quality for the price in comparison with most any mass production guitar factories elsewhere in the world.

It's easy to see guitars like this becoming much more popular, and Enya has been good at improving their models. I'd like to see Screw Pole Pieces on the Pickups for individual string volume/tone adjustments. The thing I'm concerned about type of guitar is that the electronics are probably going to be an expensive problem when they need to be repaired or replaced.
@nocturnal101ravenous67 ай бұрын
Ok so here is the thing about electronics like any component in a computer if its going to go its going to go during the warrantee period or it will fail out the box, with manufacturing its very very rare to have something fail, Capacitors have come such a long way I cannot tell you the last time I had to resolder a cap on a motherboard that was leaking or failed probably Pentium D days maybe socket 775 on cheaper motherboards. Honestly a major issue is E-Waste because to components outlast the use of the product these days. Batteries are the only major failure point I have seen, and those technologies have been progressing at leaps and bounds since 2006, in about 4 more years the battery issue will be solved entirely.

I've got a black one on order. I've got about another week b4 I get mine :(. Can't wait. I've never played a guitar so I'm a total rookie. Yes, the USB-C cable does more than just charge the battery. You can use the cable to connect to your computer to record as well. This guitar also has a blue tooth feature on it. I think you just double tap the button and it briefly lights up red. You can then use the guitar's speaker as a blue tooth speaker to play back songs to strum with. So I believe you have to pair two times on your computer. One for the app and one for the blue tooth speaker. Sorry for being a rookie but I'm watching a ton of KZbin videos to speed up my learning skills. So sorry for my rookie definitions. A kill momentary switch would be a nice addition. Having a piezo bridge pickup might be a nice option. I had some other ideas that are slipping my mind at the moment. It seems I watched this video a time ago.

-It should have a bigger traditional speaker or two in it to produce better bass fq's. If that means it becomes thicker at the bottom and one would play it more at a tilted angle then so be it, that's normal anyway when playing sitting down. -It should strive to be, or have an upgrade model being an all-in-one and have a say 25-100 effects&s chains preset option to put on at a press plus something to engage and disingage some effects in the preset etc. -If people don't need stomp pedals that is worth an extra investment. I'm not inclined to be a fan of something like this but I'll have to admit it is kind of interesting and sounds OK from here. I do think the effects on the phone would be a little fiddley to adjust while your playing. Maybe there should be a programable knob for adjusting speed or depth or whatever. I would like the light weight, which I recently discovered when, for fun I bought a cheap China strat copy for $65 delivered, it's made out of Basswood and light as a feather which does wonders for my arthritic back and even my gnarly old hands don't hurt as much... all because I'm not fighting 12 lbs of guitar. I didn't expect that and as a bonus, it actually plays pretty well. It's fun to play. I'd like to try the Enya but I don't know if I'd spend the money.

I'm not usually inclined to like stuff like this either. Usually new tech turns me off, but this is pretty simple. No learning curve. App is super easy to open and edit. If your guitar is on and nearby, the app finds it immediately. I personally would prefer actual, tactile knobs instead of an app control, but that would probably make the guitar cost more and would sorta kill the simplicity thing they were going for. My advice is just program your 4 favorite, most useful tones and leave them after that.

I had a synsonics guitar when i first started playing. My parents bought it for me in the 80's. It had the built in amp with distortion but no other effects. Little me thought it was the most bad ass guitar ever 😂

Good playing as usual brad.. cool guitar

I'm thrilled that you can do this with just a smart phone and not a computer, which I gave up years ago.

Yeah....I think I'm going to buy this. In the summer we spend time out in my in-laws' beach house and even though I leave a little Yamaha acoustic out there, I miss playing an electric. It's just too much of a pain in the ass to bring out a guitar and amp on the train and ferry. This thing is literally perfect.

My new Nova Go Sonic was delivered yesterday, and right out of the box I could hear something rolling around inside the control cavity... turns out two of the plastic stand-offs for the backplate were broken and a piece of broken plastic was bouncing around inside...
@franktanton83887 ай бұрын
as a result the backplate is not flush fitting... I thinking I may send it back... a shame since the guitar plays and sounds great.
@TheGuitologist7 ай бұрын
Yeah, I'd exchange that for another one.

@@TheGuitologist I explained the situation on their website email, but they have not responded yet... I hope they will exchange it... it is a very cool guitar... your video was very good too.

Nice finger picking technique. That guitar seems better quality than my Ibanez RG421.

Mr Guitologist, I do love to watch you play the guitolar.

As I was watching this I kept wondering if the internal speaker worked even if a 1/4” cable was plugged in. One of the downsides with modelers and small practice amps is that feeling of the guitar in a room with a really loud amp. The amp induces energy back into the guitar and comes alive, and sort of plays itself. With the speaker in the guitar as you found it can induce feedback and resonances. This guitar would be a stroke of genius if it was plugged into a DAW, modeler or a small practice amp and the internal speaker induced energy into the body/strings to create a more resonant signal for the player but not at 120dB. Does this make sense?
@TheGuitologist8 ай бұрын
Makes perfect sense. Unfortunately, plugging into an amp defeats the internal speaker.
@Vintage35MM8 ай бұрын
@@TheGuitologist shouldn’t be too hard to modify. There must be a TRS jack for the 1/4” output functioning as the switch for the internal amp that shorts on the plug barrel. Or a separate switched jack like on tube amps.

Brad, I guess carbon fiber has again become affordable. MSA built a carbon fiber bodied pedal steel guitar a number of years ago. It was fantastic. And non responsive to climate fluctuations…unlike the traditional wood body pedal steels…they are prone to “cabinet drop” aka cabinet flexing from the various opposing mechanical forces utilized to bend and release the various strings…cabinet flex causes the tuning to be a little flat or sharp when activating some of the pedals and knee levers, and therefore they need to utilize various method of mechanical compensation for that. The MSA carbon fiber models had zero cabinet drop at all. They were discontinued due to the sudden rise in cost of carbon fiber material. I seem to remember a drop in the number of various companies, offering carbon fiber acoustic guitars around that time too.

I'm digging it. Drums in the app would be good.

I don’t think it will replace traditional git fiddles I think it ads to it with something you can grab with it’s own self contained sound and like you said future updates will make it better and better the only way that will happen is if they keep selling and being able to plug in is cool and feedback was cool. I’ve been watching your videos long enough to see how much you like something. You seemed to enjoy this. Also great couch guitar. Most guitarist have a guitar to play during commercials or am I the only weird one.

I play in bed too! Lie down and run scales before nodding off sometimes. Perfect for that.

This is ALL YOUR FAULT! I just ordered one from Amazon (in white) using the link you provided so make sure they give you whatever spiff you are due. The price was $439.99 plus sales tax but it had a coupon attached to it to save 15% so with $26.18 sales tax, it "only" cost $400.17.

China are gonna end up being what Korea was to guitars a decade ago, mark my words. I saw a girl playing and singing through one of those amplified Fernandes Jelly Bean Guitars in the Mall, and I thought what a GREAT IDEA!

it has a headphone/line out. I'm curious... how's it sound when plugged into a nice car stereo via an aux cable? My camping van can be opened up and turned into a cannon of a boombox.

Can you upgrade the pickups? To sound even better through the onboard speaker!

Great looking product. I've got a Epiphone Mo Baby with a built in amp that is a POS but I love the resonance feedback too much to part with it. My grandson has his eye on it so he'll probably get the Moderne and the Mo Baby when I'm gone. Good video review my friend.
