I got to meet Richard and Fred Young right after the first Headhunters album came out. My cousin’s husband (at the time) was friends with everyone in the band we went over to Richard’s house. Fred happened to stop by while we were there. It was a pretty cool experience for a teenager who had just started playing guitar.

I knew Stevie from childhood. He and jimmy bought their amps from eugene's music and Cesar Diaz used to be his amp repair guy. I saw him and Eric J 10+times at Tangos in Dallas together when they were getting started. I lived about 2 blocks from Charley's guitar shop in Dallas and still do. I met them all in the 70s. Charley and Renee were friends. Lots of good players tho back then in Dallas.

I live in Louisville and have a '59 Fender Concert amp that needed to be repaired. I talked to some friends about it and was that Steve Wilson is the man. I didn't know if him. They said "good luck" with getting him to work on it, perhaps because I'm not a "somebody" I suppose. I called him and he was very gracious and humble and invited me to his home to check it out. We agreed on a price and he did what he does. I am very delighted to have met Steve and he is a very down person. Thanks Steve!

So glad you made this Brad My favorite episode ever I’ve tried to contact Steve 3-4 times but never got in touch I currently have a 74 Marshall superbass that he serviced at some point in its life I was hoping to have him go over it I’ve tried several times to look up info on Steve I’ve been very interested in him due to the folklore here in the Louisville area One story I’ve heard is that he had been contacted by Marshall to look into how he was hot rodding the Marshall plexi Don’t know if it’s true but it’s one of many stories I’ve heard throughout the years Thanks again

when I was 16 a guy I worked with at a summer job...had a beautiful 1962 gibson sg...it was bought as an investment and the guy kept it under a plexi glass lid on his case...This thing had never even saw more than 1 or 2 fingerprints... he was the original buyer and intended to keep it for his grand kids to use or have. anyways he gave it to me to use for the whole summer and I was stoked big time... he said treat it like you know what its worth and treat it like you own it... I went right away to our local music store and rented a new 100 watt bassman head with 4x12 bassman cabinet of course this was the 70's... I put that guitar thru more playing in those 8 weeks that it will probably ever see again... Broke some of my mothers dishes with the rumble coming out of that cranked amp...vibrating things off the shelves... I returned that guitar to him as promised and not so much as a mark on it....what a summer I had.

Used to co run songwriter nights around Liverpool U.K, these guys remind me of the American musicians we hosted, humble, polite, talented and always a pleasure to work with. We hosted an Americana event with several acts. We had a Soviet P.A with 2 D.I s and a kick mic. The British beardy talent moaned like bastards! My heart sank when a real 9 piece bluegrass band " soundchecked" ie we can hear you ,now play! I apologized to the guys and said .I can balance your vocals and that's it! The lead singer, I can't remember his name, said ..don't worry Danny we'll do honky tonk. They strummed a bit ,messed with amps..the harmonies started..Old cotton fields back home and they were bloody perfect.
