One day after recording the series' final episode, Dermot Morgan, the actor who played Father Ted, suffered a heart attack while hosting a dinner party at his home in London. He was rushed to hospital, but died soon afterwards. He was 45 years old. RIP Dermot and thanks for bringing so much laughter to the world.

Thanks for doing the whole episode, as you said it puts everything in context and is much better for it, the episode where they are on holiday is a good one too, Graham Norton is in that episode too, he is in several Farther Ted episodes and always annoyingly funny, the cows will give you a laugh I guarantee it :)

Still to this day people visit the location spots of the filming from the show and even have Father Ted Festivals ..Coming from Ireland loved this show as it stuck two fingers up to the church here who ran Ireland for too long .... never looked at a priest the same way after this show lol lol

Series 3 hit new levels of hilarity. It was absolutely brilliant. The 2 writers and all the actors knew S3 was the final one. So they let loose. This episode, kicking Bishop Brennan up the arse, the curse words in the sheep episode, the Mainland ep ("I don't believe it!").......etc. Just amazing. This episode is absolutely brilliant, so close to the political-correctness barrier and the racist undertones - albeit in pure comedy. Its genius. Possibly the greatest comedy show of all time 💓🇮🇪 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅 'Speed 3' with the milkman is the greatest episode of comic tv I've ever watched in my life 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅

The thing about priests in Ireland is that the idiot son would be put into the priesthood, which meant that most priests were weirdos or had major character flaws, this show just amplifies that a little bit. Ted was banished to craggy island because he embezzled some charity money.

I’ve always felt that Father Ted is the closest thing there is to a non-animated Family Guy. If you think of the scene, for example, where Ted bursts into the pub, only to see a bar full of Chinese people, some playing traditional Irish music, it’s like a Family Guy cutaway scene to something irreverent. In Fact, I propose Father Ted in a stringing together of bonkers scenarios. The whole of the episode : speed 3 is cartoonishly irreverent.

I did hear, so many years ago I can't remember where from, a couple of Catholic priests saying that Father Ted is routinely watched by many Catholic priests because it is so accurate of their lifestyle. I don't know whether that is true or they were just having a laugh, but I would like it to be true!
