Yeah that’s because it’s BLUE. Blue dye is some intense shit. I got mine done permanent turquoise and even after it faded to a very vague green over white blonde, and I perm dyed it auburn over that, once the auburn faded, there was the green. Blue doesn’t give.

Semi-permanent dyes with green undertones are the WORST! You have no choice but to either bleach it out over a few months or dye your dark to cover it up and wait it out. I’m currently struggling with getting green from Colorista ‘semi-permanent’ out of my hair. Thankfully fashion colours are so much fun!

Ion color brilliance in blue literally barely fades in my experience. I have used the cyan, sky blue, and sapphire and they all fade down to the same duller blue but never wash out. I love that personally but they aren't really semi permanent for someone who wants that

I actually strongly prefer a fade from natural roots down to bleached/dyed ends for any colour. I kind of hate when stylists bleach right to the roots because there is always that hard line the moment it grows in [I understand that it's more appropriate for _some_ people and _some_ colours, like going from light blond to a rich red]. The fade from natural colour at the roots always looks so much better to me, and on Jenna's hair that kind of means that dark blue will be a fade from brown through greenish, denim and then a more intense blue. I'm not trying to throw any shade, or say there's a better way everyone should do their hair, I'm just saying that the hard bleaching right to the roots for one solid colour isn't for everyone and takes a LOT of constant maintenance to look good. Many of us don't have the health or budget for that. I'd actually like to see more stylist working with a "natural" looking fade, because as it is even "shadow roots" are done by prebleaching right to the scalp and using hard lines. Right now everyone is all about "crazy colours can't look real anyways, so screw letting it look natural enough, and let's just always bleach to a 10 right to the roots." and that seems to be the hard industry go to right now. For some of us the best hair style and colouring is the one that will look just as good growing and fading out over the next six to twelve months. Some of us just aren't into the "high maintenance" lifestyle of "If I don't touch up my hair this week it'll look like crap, or look like I stopped caring or didn't touch up my hair." And for all of Jenna's experimenting, her intuitive talent with hair, so far, seems to be making choices that look good fading and growing out, and I'm here for it. In fact, some of us might really appreciate tips from trained hair stylists on how to accomplish what we want with our hair that isn't just telling us to have a stylist do it, or that we shouldn't want what we want. Practical and affordable doesn't have to mean basic, and I'm sure you viewers would love to hear your take on making decisions that grow/fade out well

I generally do it by starting with a kind of balayage-ombre-combo style lightening and then using demi-permanent over it and fading that up higher. The demi stains my hair better than oxidative dyes, especially after bleaching, and it gives me that "slowly sun lightened" type gradation, which only avoids looking more natural because it's like red, blue and purple.
