Any time a song choice in the show seems a little off, it's probably because it was a hit at the time, or they were paid to make it one, so it got pushed into the show and written around it, lol.

Yeah, the tie was definitely a cop out, probably to build tension in another episode. Actions certainly have consequences.

It always bothered me is that Rachel only had one solo in competition at this point, but they act like she has had so many more time in the spotlight, Finn was chosen more than her at this point. Also she only got that solo because she was the only one prepared to do it. Also giving Santana the solo after what she pulled was awful on Shue's, I mean he yells at Rachel when she was dealing with some stuff in part due to Santana but she gets rewarded??? He had Mercedes right there.
