The Evolution of Beyonce is one of my favorite medleys of theirs. I enjoyed watching your facial expressions to their awesomeness. Superfruit (Scott's and Mitch's side project) did a Beyonce medley where they covered the entirety of her self-titled album. It's sublime and Queen Bey called it flawless. It's not a capella though.

The amazing thing about Mitch is yes, his appearance has changed frequently and drastically in the last 11 years, but he manages to pull off EVERY SINGLE LOOK! Who else can do that, expect maybe Queen Bey?

Somewhere along the line there was a video clip where the group was talking about Beyonce approaching them at an awards show (possibly the Grammy's), and she told them how awesome this evolution video was. They said they all just about melted into the carpeting hearing that, and were tongue-tied to say anything but a group "Thank you!".

Like you, I believe this is one of the best medleys PTX has ever done, except maybe the Evol of Michael Jackson, and the Beyonce Medley by Superfruit. The number of songs covered, (29!), the transitions, and it's all done in one take, just incredible. BTW, one reactor called this Mitch's Apple Store staff look, and it sure fits!

Personally, the Evolution of Ariana Grande is my favorite and you should do that next! I adored this one and it was my favorite, with the Rhianna as a close second but it just didn't have the impact this one did. However, after listening to the Ariana Grande, when Matt was a bit more relaxed and synced in, it took first place! It's really killer.

Except it isn't effortless; they're just very good at making it look that way. For it to be an "Evolution of..." medley the songs have to be in the correct order, from oldest to newest. Once they have that list they have to do the arrangement, making sure that they can properly transition between songs, picking soloists, arranging the accompaniment, etc.. Then they rehearse until they have it right. And then they have to do the performance in a straight take; if they mess up they have to start over from the beginning. They obviously love what they do, so they were enjoying themselves, but that doesn't mean that it's without effort. I enjoy doing Sudoku puzzles, but if they're too easy they aren't fun. The fact that PTX *were* having fun with this is probably one way of judging just how much effort they put into it. As for Kevin, he's just plain amazing. He's so good at so many things that I'm tempted to call him "Leonardo"; he's a true polymath. If Mitch has a once in a generation voice then Kevin has a once in a generation mind. And the fact that all of these incredibly talented people found each other is *our* great good fortune.

This is one of their first evolution vids. This isn't my favorite ... I'm a fan of the Michael Jackson evolution. I actually prefer Superfruit's Beyonce cover (it's all the songs from her self-titled album).
