I think the stone cistern things are for water storage for the veggie garden. This is Italy, there should be tomatoes, basil, zucchini, and eggplant growing. The stonework in the garden area is a hidden gem.

Buses come into the city proper. You could walk down from there. That's how these people live to be 90+ all the time!

so wow. that place you showed could look like the one belonging to Claudia? The stone could be exposed like that? I'd have to come up with a decent sized bath room somewhere with a nice tub. Those little narrow rooms creep me out. I done know why but they do. Maybe it's just the camera.

Partly is the camera lens. I use a wide angle to get as much of the room in the shot without having to pan back and forth too much. This place could be nice like Claudia’s apt but not exactly the same. The cost to expose any stone that might be there would be astronomical.
