I haven't finished watching this video yet, but yeah, I wonder how off-put Brad would be by that album's weaker elements. I think that Fergie probably deserved stronger material than what she got. I think her voice could command better crafted lyrics overall, and the production on songs like London Bridge can be very grating, even though I like that song about 60-70% of the time. To say this is a product of its time is already giving it too much credit, because what everyone knows from it is Dirty Bit and I Just Cant Get Enough, and even then they're still mixed. Critics called Dirty Bit the worst song of the year when it came out, and this album is credited to killing the pop stardom of the Black Eyes Peas. The E.N.D. was a product of its time, The Beggining was rejected months after it was launched. It sucks.

The first time I heard the entirety of The Time (Dirty Bit) was on the way to prom. I was so distracted! It was shocking. I didn’t realize how twisted up my face was until my date asked me if I was ok. It legit put me in a bad mood and as a bonus it absolutely refused to end. Just kept going to make sure it out stayed its welcome. I Got A Feeling, for all it’s flaws, was the solid soundtrack to so many good moments and I think that’s a huge part of why it’s so fondly remembered. I also think The Time was aiming to be the same type of hit, but it’s a record scratch that disrupts fun moments instead of underscoring them.

You know, your talk about the mixing really reminds how in the late 2000s and early 2010s, there was so much improper mixing when it comes to digital equipment, or DAWs, prob was a rough transition. Will.I.Am cites using a laptop for creating music once, and you know it's fine for on the go, but just that if you're gonna release? That's probably what settled the mixing of this album in occasions. I will say prob an interesting time capsule with production, ever since beats this time hit better right now.

if this album had production as good as just can't get enough it would be a decent trashy pop album that knows what it is, adjacent to early kesha with that level of nostaglia, where I never was really into it but it was omnispresent on the radio.
