It’s honestly impressive how her musical style hasn’t changed at all. Her new songs sound exactly like her old ones, same instruments, similar melodies, same structure and everything. It takes skill to make the same exact song like 20 times in a row. She seems to be having fun, though. A lot of artists seem to lack passion for their music over the years. At least she’s having a good time.
@leekenny16272 жыл бұрын
Meghan Trainor released multiple albums where she explored different sounds. Nobody listened to them, so her manager suggested going back to her roots and releasing doo-wop sounds (which she enjoys making). I do agree she seems to be having a lot of fun and not stressing so much about charting. Just making music that she thinks is fun to produce.
@leekenny16272 жыл бұрын
@Alejandro She released Treat Myself, Christmas EP and The Love Train. She also sang as a feature for other artists. That's a lot of songs released (in a few years) considering she got married & became a mother too.

@Alejandro Agree to disagree then. I can very easily distinguish the different sounds between her first 3 official albums, with Thank You & Treat Myself being mostly a different genre to Title & Takin' It Back - Pop sounds vs Doo-wop. Well I mean, you can be proud of your curves while still striving to lose weight and become healthier. I personally lost a LOT of weight last year and became healthier. I loved my old body, and I still love my body now, but I was VERY unhealthy. My weight was supposed to be anywhere within 118-145 lbs for my height (5’5) and I was all the way up to 190 lbs. I had to change something before it got worse.

That Bass got big right as I finished military basic training. It was a nightmare. After going months without any music aside reveille, the anthem, taps, cadence and whatever someone feels like belting in the shower, folks tend to embrace the absolute hell out of the first bit of music they hear. Too many folks were bopping around playing and reciting That Bass in Tech School. It was awful. Fortunately there was a cool remix of Tove Lo’s High All The Time that was being played on repeat by someone in the dorms a lot around that time as well.

I think there is a degree of relevance to be honest. It was definitely a tangent, and I think Brad probably shouldn’t have gone on it (though I mean as someone with adhd too I understand), but she’s built her biggest body positivity song on her supposed big ass, arguably that being a lie is the same as models and tabloids pushing unrealistic beauty standards, exactly what she was pushing against with “All about that bass”
@ringer13242 жыл бұрын
When you make your whole image About body positivity and your biggest hit is about your curves it kinda does have something to do with the music. Not saying what brad did was good just that it isn’t entirely irrelevant in her case

Wrote this on another comment but I think it bears repeating so I'll say it here too. It was kind of a disappointing moment watching this as a woman. It seems to bear out that all woman-attracted content creators inevitably, no matter how nice they otherwise are, will reduce some woman/en to her parts on a video at some point, especially by pointing out what she's lacking, with the implication that she's worth less bc of it (intentional or not, that's the effect). It's tiring tbh. The way it i see it though, If I drop everyone that does it then I end up with less to watch overall. Idk. That did feel like a tooth being pulled.
@teethcoat42742 жыл бұрын
@@sugarlessgirl96 That's certainly a real and serious issue, that female artists who do not put forward a sexual image are discussed in a sexual manner regardless, either positively or negatively, but as I said in my other reply I don't think that's the case here. Meghan Trainor herself has introduced the topic of her body shape, and in the words of NakeyJakey, "If you wanna talk about the gator under the bed, I'm gonna talk about the gator under the bed". That is to say, it's not entirely unfair for Brad to comment on it, as Meghan herself has made it a talking point (though it would still have been better if he hadn't brought it up).
@sugarlessgirl962 жыл бұрын
@@teethcoat4274 I wasn't super clear I suppose, but my gripe here specifically is more of a "setting an example" thing. It's pretty clear that chat and the community are a reflection of a content creator and their decisions/engagements/values etc. Brad is doing really well in addressing these topics like the whole racism thing so I'm hopeful this can be another avenue for growth? Every time this behaviour happens it reminds me that, as a woman, I'm less welcome in a community bc expressing discomfort with sexism in particular will often result in being shunted aside/told i'm overreacting anyway (not singling you out here, i mean generally). Then i'm faced with either having to quietly sit though scenes like this that make me grit my teeth, or dropping yet another creator bc wading through a sea of sexism and objectification then becomes a choice that i can make. But can't we politely ask for good change, or at least some reflection? You can understand that it would have been better for him to not have said it at all - I'll extend an olive branch. I think there was a line crossed with the video being shown on the phone and the slow motion part. Like "look at how flat she is haha" as a spectacle. As a joke? Idk. If it had been more of a throwaway little snipe it wouldn't have felt so teeth-pulling. But tbh I'd prefer what you said, not even that. Imagine he did this but with harry styles' bottom or smth? Idk I can't think of a super sexualised male artist (in the way women are) nor can i imagine a content creator dissecting a man to his sexual parts like that...bc it's a line they just don't cross for some reason.

I feel like everytime a modern pop artist tries to make a song sound old fasioned, they just make it sound like something you'd hear while shopping in Jcpennys. I think before trying to make a song sound old, you should try studying what old musicians did to get that old music style and you should listen to a whole bunch of old music, and you can really tell they didn't do that.
