It was cute watching the chickens 🐓following the lighting crew around as they were digging the trenches for the wiring. I think they thought it was pretty awesome to have those guys there for them to dig up the dirt and provide them with snacks! The lighting looks beautiful - you and Mary will have a lovely view to look at each evening. I got a chuckle out of watching the guy shred and spew the bails of hay. It's a good thing Andrew has good fencing; I was envisioning Ralph, Rick and Dale jumping the fence and come a-running for their supper! I was thinking that they were probably wondering why the heck their food was being spewed up all over your yard instead of in their pasture🤣. I seem to remember Andrew trying to plant some grass seed near his smaller pond on his old property and he lay hay down to keep the grass seed in place or something like that. One thing your chickens will love is if you let them have the grass clippings when you mow eventually. They'll scratch thru it at an amazing speed and help it break down so fast into lovely soil. That makes me think of someone... if you or your sons are interesting in learning about composting with what's mainly on hand and is easy to follow, there is a channel that I may have mentioned to you before called The Hollar Homestead. Ben Hollar is the dad of this family and he has some really good videos on making composting 'bins' out of pallets (I'll betcha Flair would have a few extra kicking around from Beefcake Jerky). He goes thru all the stages and at what point he puts it in his chicken run for them to break down. It's really a bit of an art, but it doesn't have to be difficult (so he says, haha). He's very basic and DIY and explains things very well. Say hi to Mary👋🏼 - I hope your mom is doing well and that your kiddos are enjoying the spring weather you seem to have there. Our snow finally was all melted and the yard was starting to dry up, but as I looked out the window as I closed my curtains this evening, I saw some of that white "S**W" stuff falling from the sky. I'll know when I wake up in the morning whether it stuck or not. I sleep with my window upon so if it's dead quiet out there, then I know we got enough to cover and stick to the roads. Ugh. Wish us luck! Anyways, I came on here thinking "I'm NOT going to blather on and on", alas here I am well-blathered😳🤯🙉. All the best to you, my friend! I look forward to that video idea we spoke about 😉😃 Heather🇨🇦

The outdoor lighting looks good, it's amazing the difference lights can make. If you need something a little different, check into moon lights, as the name implies, they simulate natural moonlight. That looked like a lot of manpower and equipment to get some ground cover going. Would hydro seeding have been a viable option?

Could always get a zero turn for around the house, and then they make pull behind finish mowers that can be pulled with a ATV or side x side. You could get a 6ft one and just pull it slow and take care of those big areas as needed. Everything looks great, and I really like the idea of the lights… hopefully things will work flawlessly with the solar you invested in and you won’t have any $$$ added to your utility bills :)

One question I forgot to ask in my last novel-of-a-comment. Are the up-facing and down-facing lights on separate plugs or are all the lights tied into one? I don't know the electrical terms, clearly, but I was thinking about in the winter when you could potentially have a foot of snow on the ground. Can you unplug or turn off the up-facing ones only so they are not wasting your energy while buried under snow. I was just curious as to how that works. I know they mentioned the timers, etc. but it made me wonder if it was all or nothing as far as controlling each direction. I have no idea why my brain thinks of these things, haha, but it does.
