Small thing I learned from this. Make up isn’t just an aesthetic. It can be an active member of the scene. The bandages never bothered her a bit, they just passively sat on her face. Also, there’s a bit of a disconnect between shot selection. The wide and escalator shots are on sticks and the actor’s expression in them is a 4-5 on a level of disorientation, and ends on a movement (her walking out of frame). We jump to her not moving and appearing more drunk than she was in the previous shot, and then to her looking more panicked than drunk in next shot. Similarly, the camera angles and movement aren’t telling the same narrative. The steadiness of the opening shots and then jumping into handheld split the narrative in 2 emotions, and the acting discrepancies divides that even further. It was a tad difficult to grasp what I was looking at without actually being told that she’s suppose to be drunk. Things I liked… haha..the footage, and makeup looks great! And you guys did a phenomenal job for 2-4 people. Thank you for putting this out and making us all better. ❤

Great clip. The key to this is that you actually KNOW what you bare doing. Every shot is part of a plan and has an internal idea. That will always give an edge. "Shallow DOF" and "Cinematic" is nothing. The thinking behind what is going on and what is showed in the scene is what makes it work.

You're a great videographer but an iPhone is not going to replace a dslr or a hybrid cam. Missing some shallow depth of field here and more. To be honest, on a budget I would get a phone that coast me 250 Box and a Panasonic GH5 camera 2.hand for 500 Box. And you still save some money for lighting gears instead buying an iPhone 15 Pro for filmmaking. Real talk
@poti73211 ай бұрын
But if you have a good phone which you need anyways you can just pay a little extra when you switch phones for an iphone 15 pro and that is way less money than the setup you mentioned. Lets be real getting into videography can be done on an iphone and ofc later you are gonna buy a camera , we are not replacing professional equipment here.
@BradyBessette11 ай бұрын
I agree that it wouldn’t replace things, but honestly the quality coming out of my phone has been very impressive and when I’m packing light I have opted to take 1 body and my iPhone instead of 2 bodies and extra glass. I need a phone anyway, so I just upgraded a bit more
@kenstreetcinema11 ай бұрын
@@poti732 yes I agree with you. Everyone has different point of views. :) I just gave my opinion. Of course you can make great stuff with just a phone but if you want to start deep diving into cinematography and getting serious about it, there is no other way around to start learning the basics at least. My last Iphone was the iPhone 12 pro max. My battery is almost death today and it always over heat's. I didn't want to upgrade to a 15 pro after using Iphones since 14years. So I bought a new 250box phone and it's doing great. It never over heat's, the battery last for ever and for social media it works smoothly. The only downside is of course the camera. But I don't care because I only use my pro cam for my KZbin videos and social media. But that is my personal choice. Everybody has he's own :)

Iphone 15 base price 800 optional portable light which is shown here - 200 (keep in mind the portable aspect) potential use of SSD for extended storage - 80/160 (depending on size and R/W speeds) HDD for storing and keeping footage - 40/80 (same as SSD) a pc/laptop to even edit on if needed and also access your HDD, most likely 800+ atleast unless your going second hand. overall im not accounting for tripods, basic nd's you can strap on and the multitude of other things which make life easier, regardless you dont need a budget to make a good film, which is creative, looks amazing etc etc. but emphasising its your budget whilst using a phone that is almost 1k in most currencies, your stretching about on the low end 1.2k - 2k+ depending on if you get the extra equipment i listed above which is practically needed for long term use if at all the beginning also. at the end of the day, if you want a certain look, which maybe you need a lens, or want to have certain colours (which by god if your shooting with 8bit is a pain) your going to be spending a lot of money. also to take into factor essentially put, a budget should never dismay you in filmmaking and creation, but never should be told its your budget when your going around with cameras with LOG capabilities, lighting equipment, and the rest. imo its a cheap thing to say

Doesnt change the fact that you can do everything he did here with a way cheaper phone or camera, way cheaper lights and with your old laptop because some basic videoediting doesnt need a 800$ laptop/pc nor a ssd. Most people already have a pc or laptop in any way that is capable of doing all the things you need. And most people already have a phone with a decent enough camera because even the cheaper or older phones all shoot in 4k60(or more) at least, stabilized, able to change focus manually with camera apps etc. etc. blablabla

I do agree 100%. If you have a good eye for lighting and angles, it doesn't matter which gear you're using. Just a few professional or highly amateur filmmakers say, "Nah, it's not a good camera, lighting..." But if you achieve production company levels, viewers won't notice which camera or gears they're using. Just learn basics of composition, Lighting, camera settings, editing, step by step and enjoy the your creativity at the sametime.

I don't think KZbinrs understand how movies work :D When you have a small budget for a feature movie you have to shoot (in our country) from 6 to 8 scenes a day (without overtime). So the budget is not the issue, equipment is also not the issue., time is. And when you have an angry producer over your head who is loosing money every minute you need to be fast. So not every scene can be shot well and you have to make sacrifices. However in this video I can see that you have all the time in the world, laughing and having fun while creating. So yeah...budget is the main issue. Nice caption tho, catches the eye for the click ;)

iPhone’s are $500-$1000 and that light is $200. Filmmaking wise it’s a small budget but a lot of money for the actual average person. That doesn’t even take into account having a computer to edit on and software to do it with. Add onto that the time cost it takes to film, edit and to learn all of it, time which some people can’t spare so freely. Yes it’s possible, but a person has to be extraordinary to do it. Sometimes budget just is an issue. It’s a great thing to show people how to shoot on a budget, how to be smart with lighting and show places in the real world which can serve as potential sets. Creativity brews from limitations and not everything has to look perfect or ‘professional’. It’s a shame to tell people that they are to blame for their situation. To remind them that they don’t have enough time to learn filmmaking nor the monetary leeway to practice it.

You are a MOVIEMAKER, not a filmmaker. You do not film, you video. Film, filming, and filmmaking are the most misused words in the industry. 🙂 Digital Video and film require different skill sets. Having DIFFERENT historical and TECHNOLOGICAL timelines spanning 150 years. If you want to educate start by having PRIDE and KNOWLEDGE of the gear we use including our own words to describe what we do. Our tools are Digital Video, Non-linear, and CGI. We are moviemakers, not filmmakers and we do what film wishes it could. We are Videographers and/or cinematographers. 🙂 We video or are videoing, we do not film. That's the other RARE professionals who know how to use film and film cameras, like an ARRIFLEX 435 Panavision R-200 and Steenbeck flatbed film editors. Know the difference and have a better understanding of the craft. You will also stand out in an industry polluted with point-and-shoot "pros". Respect to you.✌♥
