Yes, I'm so glad they kept those parts low, unlike many pieces for bass that use almost only the high register, not allowing a chance for the instrument to show what makes it unique; the bass that it is.

Wow! This is my favorite piece of music, but particularly when played on the Double Bass. Maybe I'm a little biased with that being my main instrument. Regardless, this has easily been one of the best performances I've heard of this piece. Just wow, I'm floored ❤

There is nothing else like the 2 Brahms cello sonatas well the Bach and Beeth 6 sonatas can't be bettered but there is nothing that captures the dark timbre and character of the cello so beautifully. Campet's playing ,her use of vibrato is really the most knowing , musically responsive music making imaginable . If I hadn't seen this I don't think I would have known it was a double bass .Intonation so high up is really a challenge her ear must be perfect . I don't have knowledge about bowing but this bassist has it all . I knew from the beginning the pianist was in control of her sound and her intelligence in phrasing and voicing make me think she has specialized in this Sonata . I'm a pianist and discovered this music in highschool and like the 2nd and 3rd pf sonatas have always cherished this music along with the violin &piano sonatas and fminor piano quintet and the BM and cminor trios!

I'm a double bassist (and i must Say, i deeply respect the cello) but i find it funny that some times when people compliment a cello they are describing a double bass!!! The Rich low notes, the dark timbre, are things ive heard about the cello, but the bass la way Richer in this area, i think doublebass is underrated. I wish it was more popular as a melódic instrument and not just as a bass

Think about it! not only do you have to know the notes, but you basically have to hold it up and its not lightweight! not to mention those strings! Keby neboli noty pre violončelo, tak kontrabasisti v podstate nemajú z čoho hrať. Hoci je kontrabas vo svojej basovej funkcii - podporiť melodický i rytmický základ skladby - nenahraditeľný, nikdy nebude plnohodnodnotným sólovým nástrojom. Je to podobné, ako keby tuba mala hrať noblesné brilantné trúbkové sóla - nikdy sa trúbke nevyrovná: ani zvukom ani možnosťami. Prečo? Lebo nebola stavaná na ten účel. Bláznivosť sveta spôsobuje zámenu úloh hudobných nástrojov a zvrátenosť človeka zase zámenu jeho prirodzených úloh vo vzťahoch. Inak, skladám klobúk z hlavy pred touto hráčkou.
