This is beautiful. I am a singer who is learning bass. The temple that I sing at for High Holidays has just told us that we are no longer wanted after singing there for 23 years. This will be the Elegy I learn to honor those memories.
@jl37765 жыл бұрын
I am learning this piece of music for my senior recital coming in the fall. Hearing you play Elegy motivates me to continue practicing to improve. I have only been playing for 1.5 years, spending countless hours trying to learn and appreciate as I go on this journey. Thank for this magnificent work of art.

I think Lauren pierce is a great player how ever there are two types of sounds one being vanilla and the other being chocolate Lauren pierce has the vanilla sound which means it’s soft sweet on average most bass players have that but it is God’s gift for a chocolate double bass player a sound that just hits you over the head meaning vanilla players are more of a piano instrument in Gary karr’s word “if you have a vanilla sound you might as well give it up” I’m not saying to give up don’t get me wrong but I’m saying that I would prefer pure dark chocolate

it’s hard to get that chocolate feeling when you’re playing actual melodic bass pieces. you get to a point where “The Elephant” is all the typical bass sound you want to hear and you explore into more difficult pieces. Bottesinis Elegy is supposed to be high, this shows that bassist can be more of a human metronome with a chocolate sound. There’s no reason a vanilla player should give up because they’re challenging themselves more than orchestral excerpts do,
